The beautiful, vibrant coloration of this scalekin's feathers are a natural indication of its venomous nature. Infamous for supplementing physical attacks with poisonous breaths, it is also capable of impressive bursts of speed, owing to its muscular legs and the purchase afforded by its sharp talons.[1]

Etymology
Divider3.png
Though the name ziz has been used on promotional materials, in the game itself, those from different regions tend to call these creatures by different names, with ziz being prominent in the Black Shroud. In La Noscea, they tend to be called pelicans, and in Thanalan they are generally given names that end in Beak, such as Axe Beak or Rudis Beak.

The different visual colorations simply mark which breath attack they will use:

  • Blueback - Petribreath (Petrification)
  • Sableback - Slumber Breath (Sleep)
  • Violetback - Poison Breath (Poison)
  • Yellowback - Numbing Breath (Paralysis)
Actions
