There are a great number of quests in the game. They can be loosely divided into the following subcategories.

Mainquest1 Icon.png
Main Scenario Quest‎s.
These quests comprise the main storyline of A Real Reborn. This storyline is mostly linear, meaning one and only one quest follows the preceding one, although there are few limited instances where there is a small branch. Progressing through this storyline will unlock most aspects of the game, including Inns, Guildleves, Guildhests and Dungeons among many other game systems.

These quests are optional quests that can be done in any order to gain experience, gil and/or items. Some sidequests are part of a series, but most stand alone. They can typically be done by any disciple of war or magic.

Side Story Quest‎s.
Hildibrand Quests
Relic & Zodiac Weapons
These quests are essentially sidequests and are optional, but unlike most sidequests they have a lengthier and more complex storyline that spans multiple quests (and patches).

Chronicles of a New Era.
These are the quests that are unlocked after completing the main story of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. It mainly focuses on the Primals. In order to complete your Relic Weapon you must get at least through In a Titan Spot.

Class quests are those obtainable exclusively when playing as a certain class. Each class has a linear storyline that rewards certain items and/or skills.

Job Quest‎s.
Like class quests, job quests are those obtainable exclusively when playing as a certain job. Each job has a linear storyline that rewards certain items and/or skills.

Beast Tribe Quest‎s.
Beast Tribe quests are primarily daily repeatable quests. Each tribe has two short introductory quests, which, upon completion, grants the player receives a "neutral" reputation rating with the Tribe. This allows the player access to that Tribe's neutral daily repeatable sidequests and certain items from the Tribal merchant. Completing sidequests for the tribe will increase your reputation, and when it is maxed out at a given level, you can complete the next Tribal Main Quest to unlock the new reputation level (and accompanying new sidequests and/or wares). Tribal sidequests can be completed daily, and a player is granted 6 allowances per day with a maximum of 6 allowances to be held at any one time.

Levequests are immediately repeatable quests obtained by talking to a Levemete. You can possess up to 99 Leve Allotments at any one time. Upon talking to a Levemete, you will be offered a set number of available Levequests, and you can select any/all offered. New levequests will be offered as you complete the ones taken. Levequests fall into three main groups, battlecraft, tradescraft and fieldcraft.
