I confess, I know not where else you might seek sanctuary, but few places are like to be more perilous than a city under siege.

Ah, a welcome sight in these troubled times. Though I suspect it will not be long before you are ushered away on some urgent business. Still, you are more than welcome to rest here for as long as you wish.

Master Surname! Glad I am to see you safely returned.
'Tis not only Ishgard, but every nation upon this star which now owes a debt to your selfless heroism.
Should you ever require a place to rest your weary wings, may my home ever serve as sanctuary. I know my three sons would joyfully stand by me in providing you the warmest welcome.

- Biography
- As patriarch of House Fortemps, Count Edmont de Fortemps is an active participant in Ishgardian politics. A rather progressive thinker by the See's standards, he pushes his peers to welcome outside aid in times of crisis, and does not hesitate to employ the services of foreign mercenaries and adventurers.
Admittedly, it was the count's bastard son, Haurchefant, who persuaded him to accept the Warrior of Light and his comrades as wards of House Fortemps, a controversial decision in light of the tumultuous events during the bloody banquet in Ul'dah. Yet it proved to be a wise one in the end, and after learning many meritorious deeds accomplished by his wards—as well as bearing witness to some firsthand—Lord Edmont was inspired to pen a personal memoir entitled Heavensward, which detailed the exploits of the Warrior of Light in the north.
