There are a number of activities or systems in A Realm Reborn that offer various avenues of adventuring in Eorzea other than those tied to one's class or job. Many, but not all, of these activities differ from other systems in the game insofar as they have some leveling, or advancement, component in place.
Type Description
Main Command 31 Icon.png
Free Company.
Gardening
Private Chambers
Company Airship
Free Companies act as the entirely player character based 'guild/clan' system within Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Main Command 13 Icon.png
Housing.
Players or free companies can purchase an estate, upon which a hall can be built, in any one of the three residential districts regardless of Grand Company allegiance. Estates can be customized with a variety of fixtures and furnishings.
Main Command 22 Icon.png
Chocobo Companion.
Chocobo Dyeing
Your personal chocobo can be called to fight by your side after completing the quest My Feisty Little Chocobo. Upon being called using Gysahl Greens, your companion will be of equal level to your job/class. Your companion has its own separate leveling curve, with increased companion levels leading to increased skills/abilities.
Main Command 21 Icon.png
Treasure Hunt.
In the course of gathering, Disciples of the Land will now be able to obtain items known as timeworn maps. These maps can then be used to reveal the location of hidden treasures.

Wondrous Tails.
Upon reaching level 60 with at least one Disciple of War or Magic, players can speak with the Unctuous Adventurer located in Idyllshire to unlock the Wondrous Tails weekly mini-game which requires players to complete various battle-related content and complete rows in your Wondrous Tails journal.

Squadron Mission.
Squadron missions are duties that have been assigned to your adventurer recruits by your Grand Company. To undertake a mission, you must select four squadron members for deployment.

Each mission requires that you pay your recruits a number of company seals and takes 18 hours (Earth time) to complete.

The Hunt.
The Hunt is a system which offers rewards for killing certain monsters across Eorzea. These rewards include Allied Seals, Centurio Seals and Sacks of Nuts which are used to obtain a number of exclusive items.
Main Command 2 Icon.png
Retainer Ventures.
Players can assign their retainers ventures, which send retainers out into the field to procure items. Retainers may undertake one of several types of ventures, and will be tasked with either obtaining a specified item or left to freely explore the world to obtain items as they see fit. Retainers will receive experience points upon completion of ventures, increasing their level to the same level as the player.
Main Command 23 Icon.png
Achievement.
Titles
Rewards
Achievements can be earned by fulfilling specific conditions. Completing achievements earns you "achievement points." For every 50 achievement points you earn you will receive 1 Achievement Certificate. Achievement Certificates can be traded to Jonathas for various items. Certain achievements will award a specific item or items. Those item(s) are typically obtained directly from the Achievement Log, although some iLvl 430 gear is obtained from Grenoldt (via a menu). Finally, certain achievements may provide a reward in the form of a title.
Main Command 41 Icon.png
Events.
Occasionally throughout the year certain limited-time events will take place throughout Eorzea. Seasonal Events generally correspond to holidays celebrated in real life in certain parts of the world, and therefore will repeat (with variations) annually. Special Events are unrelated to the world and take place only once (although they may be reprised). All such events generally require only low levels to participate, and generally reward various titles and/or glamour items. Events are typically available for about one (real life) week.
Main Command 61 Icon.png
Gold Saucer.
Cactpot
Chocobo Racing
Triple Triad
Gold Saucer Minigames
GATEs
When visiting the Manderville Gold Saucer, you can enjoy a number of games and activities that utilize a special currency called Manderville Gold Saucer Points (MGP).
Main Command 43 Icon.png
Ceremony of Eternal Bonding.
Players who wish to profess their devotion to one another may undertake the special rite of passage known as the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding. Over the course of the special quest, The Ties that Bind, players will prepare for, and hold a ceremony with their partner. Any two player may undertake the ritual together, regardless of race, gender or affiliation. The item rewards for those who undertake the ritual are cosmetic, consisting of the Eternity Cake (furnishing), Demon Box (minion) and Ceremony Chocobo (mount), along with an outfit. Precise rewards depends on the Ceremony Service Plan selected.

Stone, Sky, Sea.
Unlocked upon completion of the quest A Striking Opportunity, and accessed by talking to the Goodly Adventurer thereafter, Stone, Sky, Sea offers trials tailored to various high-level duties starting from Heavensward (Lv. 60), in which players will be tasked with destroying a striking dummy. The strength of the striking dummy varies depending on the difficulty selected, with all trials having a time limit of three minutes.
Main Command 1 Icon.png
Relic Weapons.
Relic Weapons are a generic term used for various high-level, job-specific weapons obtainable after completing a lengthy a series of quests. While not always the most powerful weapon available at a given time, Relic Weapons are still highly regarded and sought after, and are accompanied by lore related to the job.
