Main Command 13 Icon.png
Players or free companies can purchase an estate, upon which a hall can be built, in any one of the three residential districts regardless of Grand Company allegiance. Estates can be customized with a variety of fixtures and furnishings.

Housing Zones and Access

There are four housing zones, three of which are associated with a starting city. The fourth was introduced with Stormblood, but will not be accessible until patch 4.1. A quest must be completed in order to access each zone.

Zone Name Access Location Quest Level NPC

Acquiring an Estate

Land Acquisition Rank 6 Icon.png
Housing Placard

In order to acquire a free company estate, the free company must first unlock the Land Acquisition entitlement by achieving rank 6. After obtaining sufficient rank, simply examine the placard in front of the empty plot of land you wish to purchase. Its current price will be displayed along with a devaluation timer, if applicable. Only free company members with the proper authorization may purchase land.

A personal residence can be purchased at any time but the player has to have at least one job to level 50 and be a Second Lieutenant in their Grand Company.

Each residential district is divided into a number of identical wards. Even if the plot of land you desire has already been purchased in a certain ward, it may still be available in another.

Building an Estate Hall

In order to build an estate hall on a plot of land, players must first acquire a construction permit. A construction permit can be purchased from the Housing window while on your property. Small/Cottage permits cost 450,000 gil, Medium/House is 1,000,000 gil and Large/Mansion is 3,000,000. Once purchased, the estate will be immediately available, and you will be able to give it a name and set access and greeting message settings.

Remodeling & Furnishing

Furnishing Layout Mode

The hall itself, as well as interior and exterior portions of the hall, can be remodeled and/or furnished. Only owners or company members with the proper permissions will be able to remodel and furnish the hall and grounds. Some fixtures and furnishings can be painted or dyed. Paint Exterior by accessing Housing within the Social menu. Individual furnishings can be painted, either via the Housing menu or by selecting the item itself from the inventory. Furnishings can be moved, rotated or removed via the item's submenu.

Remodeling the Estate Hall

An estate hall is comprised of four mandatory fixtures (roof, exterior wall, windows, and door) along with up to four optional fixtures (roof decoration, exterior wall decoration, placard, and fence). Items used to remodel these attributes can be acquired in a number of ways.

In addition to remodeling, the estate hall can be decorated with a wide range of interior furnishings. Certain items can be placed on top of others, such as lamps upon counter surfaces. The number of interior furnishings that can be placed is dependent on estate hall size (Cottage: 100; House: 150; Mansion: 200).

Furnishing the Exterior

Certain furnishings can be also placed on the estate grounds outside the hall. The number of outdoor furnishings that can be placed is dependent on plot size (Small: 20; Medium: 30; Large: 40). Placing a "Garden Patch" on the estate grounds will allow the access to gardening. See main article: Category:Gardening for more details.

Outdoor Furnishing

Relinquishing Land

In order to relinquish a plot of land, you must first remove the estate hall and all furnishings. Once the plot is completely vacant, it can be relinquished from the Housing menu. Only individuals or free company members with the requisite authorization can perform this action.

  • Gil will not be refunded upon relinquishing a plot of land.
  • A free company will automatically relinquish its land if its estate is unused for a prolonged period of time.

Private Chambers & Company Workshops

Private Chambers

If an estate hall is purchased for a free company, there will be a door at the back of the ground floor of the interior. Interacting with this door will give you the option to purchase a private chamber for 300,000 gil. Private chambers can hold all the same furnishings and can be modified by the owner regardless of free company permission settings. The owner can choose whether to let anyone else into the room. Additionally, private chambers have their own furnishing limits, and can thus allow additional furnishings that have a quantity limit. There is no limit on the number of private chambers - every member of the free company can purchase one. However, in the event a member is dismissed from the company, their room will be lost and they will need to retrieve recoverable furnishings from the Resident Caretaker or lose them entirely, and no refunds are given.

Company Workshop

From the same door as for Private Chambers, the company may purchase a Company Workshop for 800,000 gil. Within the workshop exist a Fabrication Station, where the Company Crafting Log can be accessed and company projects completed; a Schematic Board where new projects can be developed for the company crafting log, and a flight control terminal, where company built airships can be managed.

Apartments

An apartment building has been added to every ward and corresponding subdivision. Before purchasing an apartment, players must first attain level 50 with at least one class. Furthermore, players must have attained the rank of second lieutenant in the Maelstrom, the Order of the Twin Adder, or the Immortal Flames. Each apartment building can house up to 90 tenants, with each room costing 500,000 gil. Players are allowed one apartment per character. Furthermore, it is possible to own both an estate and an apartment.

  • Estate sharing is not permitted with apartments. Furthermore, apartments are not subject to auto-demolition.
