Category:Servers
Servers, also known as Worlds, are instances of the world of Eorzea on which players reside. Multiple servers exist because the population of the game as a whole is too large to fit into a single world.
During Character Creation, players can select the world server of their choice to begin the game on. An indicator by each world in the world list indicates if the population is low, moderate, or near capacity. Players should consider this carefully, as more heavily populated servers may have a greater degree of lag or latency. Similarly, servers with a lower population will offer the lowest latency and a smoother experience, but forming groups for activities may be more difficult.
The servers for Final Fantasy XIV are named after cities from previous Final Fantasy titles.
