Wear is an attribute found on all equippable items, and represents the current condition of your equipment. Equipement never becomes unuseable or permanently broken/damaged as a result of becoming worn out- however, an item's attributes will decrease the lower the Wear value gets. Once it gets low or runs out, it will need to be Repaired.

Equipment becomes worn out from the following:

  • Armor becomes more worn as you receive damage in combat.
  • Weapons wear out slowly with each attack.
  • Tools wear out when used for gathering or synthesis (Especially when failing synthesis actions).
  • All equipped gear may take some damage when you are K.O.'d by a monster. Caution Icon.png

Equipment that has an Optimal Rank higher than your class's current rank will wear out faster, as will equipment that Favors certain classes if your current class is not one of those.

The effects of wear are as follows:

  • Between 100% and 10% durability, the item functions at full potential.
  • Between 10% and 1 durability, the item's potential reduces along a linear scale (approx 0.5% effectiveness per 1% durability).
  • At 1 durability, the item functions at half its potential (ie: a weapon will deal half the damage it would were it fully repaired).

Note that gear will never become unusable from wear, nor will durability reduce below 1. Therefore, gear can continually be used (albeit at reduced effectiveness) without ever being repaired.

Items must be repaired to 100% durability in order to be sold in a bazaar or traded to another player.

See Repair for the details on how to fix that gear up.
