Teleporting is the quickest method of transportation in Eorzea. Once a player has attuned with an Aetheryte crystal, the player may teleport at any time (except while in combat) to that location, from anywhere. Aetherial Gates can also be teleported to, but only from an Aetheryte Crystal that it is linked to.

Teleports cast instantly without any delay, but can not be used if you or the party are engaged in combat.

Your starting city's Aetheryte Crystal is automatically registered as a teleport location when you start the game- you do not need to attune with your city-state's crystal, and you can teleport there at any time.

Anima

Teleporting incurs a cost to one's Anima, a character's self-replenishing life force. Teleporting has been found to be hazardous to one's health, so you cannot teleport if your anima is too low. Anima replenishes over time when it is not being used, to a maximum of 100 points. The anima cost varies with your location and the destination:

  • Within the same region: 4 Anima
  • Between Adjacent regions: 6 Anima
  • Between two regions with one inbetween them:

Party Teleporting

When teleporting, any nearby party members to the person initiating teleport will be offered the chance to also teleport to that destination for free, by selecting the "Accept Teleport" command from the Interactions menu. They may do this even if they haven't been to the destination Aetheryte before. Party members do not need to move away to avoid being teleported, they can simply ignore or decline the teleport offer.

As previously implied, only the player initiating the teleport loses anima. When partying, having one player teleport to the destination, and another player teleport the party home can be a great way to save on anima.
