Intelligence from Werlyt indicates that a previously unknown Weapon is laying waste to the VIIth Imperial Legion's headquarters. Though it seems improbable that the warmachina could turn against its creators, a letter left by Allie reveals her intention to commandeer the Weapon and rescue her brother Alfonse from the imperials. Together with Gaius and Cid, you formulate a strategy not to destroy, but to capture the rampaging machine before any harm can come to its pilot.

Diamond Weapon has two distinct phases, during which it uses the following moves and mechanics.

Phase 1

Attack Name Description
Diamond Rain Spawns 4 orbs on each platform that explode and deal moderate damage.
Teleporters Only active when both platforms are available. There is 1 each at North and South on each platform. Standing on it instantly moves you to the other platform's teleporter. Grants a 5 second debuff that prevents you from using the teleporter until it falls off.
Adamant Purge Variation mechanic.
  • Claws: Extends claws on one of its hands and swipes the platform on that side. Use the Teleporters to move to the platform opposite the claws. Deals heavy damage if hit and applies a Vulnerability stack.
  • Stack: Chest glows yellow. Marks a player for an obvious line stack mechanic.
  • Spread: Shoulders glow red. Marks each player with an AoE. Spread out and avoid overlapping other players.
Lasers Both tanks will be targetted with line AoEs extending from the boss. These will hit everyone in their path. Tanks should stand apart from the group and not stack on each other, although they can stand beside each other. Everyone else should avoid standing near or behind the tanks.
Photon Burst Obvious Flare mechanic. Each tank will be marked with a Flare. They should either both move to the other platform, or have one tank move to the far side of the current platform and have the other one jump to the other platform to prevent excessive damage on the party and the tanks.
Code Chi-Xi-Stigma Signals the start of Phase 2. The boss transforms into a robot doggo and marks each platform with a large blue knockback circle. The boss will jump to each circle, knocking players up into the air and about half the length of the platform away. Hug the blue circle so you either get knocked to the far side of the platform or to the second platform. Standing too far from a cardinal direction will have you flung off the platforms and die. Afterwards he will mark one of the platforms with an orange AoE and destroy it. Use the Teleporter to travel to the remaining safe platform.

Advice and Tips

  • Most groups prefer to keep the tanks side by side along the North side of the arena and the rest of the group spread out around the South side of the arena.
  • Don't use the Teleporters during Code Chi-Xi-Stigma until he marks one of the platforms as orange. If you jump too soon, you may end up on the marked platform with no way to escape and die.

Phase 2

Whenever the boss transforms into a doggo, he will use the following mechanics.

Attack Name Description
Outrage Moderate raidwide damage.
Auri Arts Variation mechanic.
  1. The boss turns at a 45° angle and numerous crisscrossing red line AoEs appear briefly around the arena, with a final one cleaving down half the length of the platform. Being hit deals light damage, applies a Vulnerability stack, and pushes the player back a short distance. Stand in a gap near the edge where no AoE's were. If you're unsure if you'll be hit, avoid standing right against the wall so you won't be pushed off.
  2. The boss goes untargetable and jumps onto a white orb at the end of the arena. Spawns a wide line AoE down the center of the platform, followed by a large circle AoE under where he is standing. Being hit by either AoE deals moderate damage, applies a Vulnerability stack, and knocks the player back. Move to the edge of the arena away from where he starts to resolve.
Auri Doomstead Marks the main tank with a large red AoE tankbuster. Avoid stacking!
Vertical Cleave Knockback from the East or West side of the arena. Line yourself up at an intercardinal near it to be knocked into the far corner. Pushes players back ~1/3rd of the arena.

Advice and Tips

  • When the boss turns during Auri Arts, you can identify a safe spot to stand in immediately by looking at his hitbox at the point where the flank meets the rear. Standing in the triangle of space marked on the floor there will prevent you from being hit by the criss crossing AoEs.
    • This may not always be safe from the line AoE afterwards. Simply walk through after it has criss-crossed past you to avoid.
