The Limitless Blue (Hard).png
Inspiration often finds us in surprising ways. So it was that a casual mention of skyfishing helped Cid Garlond conceive a plan to lure out Bismarck, the Lord of the Mists, by using the Enterprise to tow an island through the Sea of Clouds. After binding the beast with chains fired from dragonkillers, he hopes you can engage it in the traditional fashion. Though the plan is somewhat sound in theory, there is no telling how effective it will be in practice. Nevertheless, the engineer has seen you through many dangerous situations in the past, so at least the odds are in his favor...

Requirements:

  • Eight players (2 tanks, 2 healers, 4 DPS)
    • ※The above composition requirement is not imposed upon preformed parties.

Bismarck
Divider3.png
Bismarck has 3 distinct phases, during which he uses the following moves and mechanics. Note that it is possible to fall off in this fight and you cannot be resurrected if that happens.

Phase 1

This phase repeats until the Chitin Carapace is broken.

Part 1: Island Phase

Attack Name Description
Dragonkillers Two harpoons are positioned on the North and South side of the platform. These are used to pull Bismarck in for the Back Phase and take a while to recharge. When the prompt comes up that says "The dragonkillers are readied!", a player must run to each Dragonkiller and activate it. If both are not used in time, Bismarck will deactivate them and the phase will restart.
Magitek Field Generator Used to shield the island from Bismarck's Slam. Must be used before the Slam to work.
Slam Bismarck dips down before swinging back up to ram into the platform with his side. Deals ~14 damage to the island. The Field Generator can be used to negate some of the damage, lowering it to ~5 damage.
Island Integrity Wipes the raid if it hits 0. Bar lowers with each Slam.
Adds a Vuk'maii Vundu and a Lan'maii Vundu will spawn at the start of the phase. Must be killed to fully take advantage of the Back Phase. If they aren't killed, a tank will need to stay off the back to tank them where their AoEs won't hit the party.

Advice and Tips

  • Have one dedicated player to man the Magitek Field Generator.
  • Players should be ready to move to man the Dragonkillers to reel in Bismarck.

Part 2: Back Phase

Attack Name Description
Chitin Carapace Can only be damaged by players standing on his back (you will have the Whaleback buff). The goal is to pump out enough DPS to kill it on the first try, but some groups may need a second go. When he starts to shudder, that means your time on his back is coming to a close, and you should move back to the island to avoid falling. When it breaks, it signals the start of Phase 2.

Advice and Tips

  • When he shudders, you can actually stay on his back as he will knock you back onto the platform himself.
  • If you do not have the Whaleback buff, then you cannot damage the boss. You must stand on his back to deal damage.

Phase 2

Attack Name Description
Sanuwas A green So'sanuwa and a blue Ul'sanuwa will spawn. These must be tanked, and should be kept on opposite sides of the platform, beside the Dragonkillers. The party can either split the DPS to kill them at the same time, or focus one down before burning the other, potentially using the Limit Break on one of them. If both are not killed in time, Bismarck will wipe the group when he casts Breach Blast.
Tornadoes A few tornadoes will move slowly across the room. If they touch a player, they will fling the player into the air, interrupting their casts and dealing light damage.
Water AoEs Various light blue AoEs will spawn under players and should be dodged accordingly.
Breach Blast Bismarck's ultimate. Deals high damage, and will wipe the group if both Sanuwas aren't killed. Signals beginning of Phase 3.

Advice and Tips

  • Standing where you spawned into the fight or with the Dragonkillers can help players more easily avoid the Tornadoes, as they do not generally pass over those areas.
  • Be careful of the Tornadoes, as you can be hit multiple times if it's still on or around you when you land.

Phase 3

Same mechanics as Phase 1, but without the Magitek Field Generator, along with some new mechanics. This phase repeats until the Corona is broken and the fight finishes.

Part 1: Island Phase

Attack Name Description
Adds There will be three adds to deal with instead of just two.
Weather There will be two weather patterns that will occur during this phase for players to watch out for.
  • Thunder: the sky will turn purplish. Ignore the Vapor Bubble adds that spawn. Random players will be targeted with lightning attacks, with the first hit dealing light damage and the second hit dealing heavy damage unless the Vapor Bubbles are still alive. If they are, the Bubbles will take the second hit and die, meaning you won't need to deal with them for this part.
  • Water: the sky will be clear and more blue. Kill the Vapor Bubble adds that spawn.
Vapor Bubbles Bubble adds that spawn in the corners of the room. Should be killed unless it's Thunder Weather.

Advice and Tips

  • With no Field Generator, it's now a race against time to kill Bismarck before he kills you.
  • Players should be ready to move to man the Dragonkillers to reel in Bismarck.

Part 2: Back Phase Redux

Attack Name Description
Corona The final part of Bismarck to destroy. May take a couple of rounds to finish it off. Can only be damaged by players standing on his back (you will have the Whaleback buff). The goal is to pump out enough DPS to kill it on the first try, but some groups may need a second go. When he starts to shudder, that means your time on his back is coming to a close, and you should move back to the island to avoid falling.

Advice and Tips

  • When he shudders, you can actually stay on his back as he will knock you back onto the platform himself.
  • If you do not have the Whaleback buff, then you cannot damage the boss. You must stand on his back to deal damage.
