Recently, residents of Kugane woke to find hovering above their city an airship unlike any ever seen. Yet while of Garlean design, the vessel distinctly lacked the bleak outfitting common in the Empire’s warmachina. No, this was the Prima Vista, private stage for the Majestic Imperial Theater Company─a troupe having won acclaim across Garlemald for their timeless work, The Zodiac Brave Story. Which begets the question...why are they here? The answer to that question and more lies in the selfsame legend of which they sing. The legend of Ivalice.

Attack Name Description
Ice Azer Adds that spawn with the boss. They explode upon death, inflicting damage & Sleep (Status Effect).
Unbind Spawns an Ice Spiral, Watery Orbs, Aquaspheres, & Water Spouts. Also spawns an untargetable Skater add.
Skater An untargetable add that skates around the Ice Spiral, working her way from the center of the spiral. Freezes players with the Drenched debuff if she touches them.
  • Spawns an Ice Slave add if she touches a Watery Orb. Must be killed if they spawn.
  • Spawns a Blizzard III Crystal if she touches a Water Spout. Must be killed if they spawn.
  • If she touches an Aqua Sphere, it will turn into a block of ice that does extra damage at the end of the phase.
Watery Orbs Players need to run through these to pop them; they do minor damage. Applies the Drenched debuff. If left alone, the Skater will turn them into Ice Slave adds that need to be killed.
Aqua Spheres Three targetable spheres spawn around the arena. These must be killed before the Skater reaches them or they will be turned into ice blocks that deal extra damage at the end of the phase. Skater will reach these in the following order:
  • SW (Alliance A side)
  • SE (Alliance C side)
  • N (Alliance B side)
Water Spouts Untargetable spouts of water. To remove, 3 players must stand in it at the same time. If the Skater reaches them before this, it will turn into a Blizzard III Crystal.
Blizzard III Crystal Spawned from a Water Spout that the Skater touched. Tethers to 5 random players and casts The White Whisper. If not killed before it goes off, tethered players turn into Hoary the Snowman. Snowmen will wander around the arena, stopping to do point-blank AOE damage.
Rebind Removes All Unbind elements remaining.
Blizzard IV Comes after Dualcast. Marks start of Phase 2. Many proximity-based damage markers + extra damage based on anything remaining when Mateus cast Rebind. Run to safe corners, which are generally against the walls. Just look for a section without an orange proximity marker.
Breathless Debuff A stacking debuff that increases over time. If it reaches 10 stacks, you will die. You can remove stacks by standing in the Bubbles spawned by dead Flume Toads.
Flume Toads Kill these adds to spawn Bubbles that you can stand in to reset your Breathless stacks.
Snowpierce Line AoEs that spawn during Phase 2. They will follow the player, growing longer or shorter. If they hit a Bubble, it will pop. If all bubbles pop, players will not have a way to reset their Breathless Debuff until the next set of Flume Toads spawns.
Blizzard Spheres Marks start of Phase 3. Random players will be tethered to untargetable ice spheres. After a short time the ice sphere will cast a long cone ice attack. As all players have the Drenched debuff from being underwater, anyone caught in the AoE will be frozen. Tethered players should move so that the cones don't face the alliance.
Adds Marks start of Phase 4. Mateus will move to the center and become invulnerable. Three Azure Guards will spawn. These must be tanked and kept separate from each other or they will tether together and gain a Vulnerability Down buff. Additional Ize Azer adds will spawn that need to be killed. Avoid point-blank AOE upon death which can inflict Sleep. If the Azure Guards are not killed before Maetus' Aether Gauge reaches 100%, the alliance will wipe to Frostwave.
Frostwave When the Azure Guards are killed, or the Mateus's Aether gauge reaches 100%, Mateus will cast his Ultimate. Damage is based on how full the Aether gauge is. Gather together for shield and healing. Phases will repeat from the beginning.

Advice and Tips

  • While there is quite a lot happening in this fight, many mechanics are quite obvious or easy to avoid.
  • During Phase 1, make sure 3 players are standing in the Water Spouts so you don't need to kill extra adds when the Skater reaches it.
  • Be careful of your Bubbles during Phase 2 so that people can still breathe. Also make sure that you are resetting your Breathless stacks by standing in the Bubbles!

Prior to engaging, it is recommended to apply the waymarks to the left and right of the exit and one directly in front of the entrance. This will help with the Tower phases.
Attack Name Description
Quake IV Moderate alliance-wide AoE damage.
Jagged Edge Large AoEs will spawn on random players. Players need to run away from these as they will follow the player for a few hits. Keep them away from the rest of the alliance. Standing in all of them will kill you without a dedicated healer.
Control Tower 1-3 large towers will spawn, with more towers spawning the lower the boss' health. Will eventually fall in the direction that Sanction slices them. The towers will slide in the direction they will fall before completely toppling a few seconds later. Players caught under the falling tower will be killed. There is no AoE marker under them until the last second, so keep an eye on the towers to determine where they will fall.
Sanction Light alliance-wide damage. Also damages the Control Towers by slicing them, causing them to eventually topple.
Extreme Edge The boss will leap away to the East or West side of the arena and begin casting this. One of his arms will be obviously glowing. Players should move to the side of the arena that does not have the glowing arm (either North or South). After a few seconds, he will charge across the arena. If you are hit by the flaming side, you will take moderate damage and receive a heavy-hitting DoT that can be dispelled.
Rockcutter Tankbuster.
Earth Hammer Spawns 1-3 floating hammers hovering in a cloud of dust. When the dust dispells, the hammer will coalesce and a large shadow will appear on the ground. Players need to move away from these as they will deal proximity damage when they hit.
Command Tower Spawns a massive tower in the middle that the boss will stand on while also dealing light alliance-wide damage and a knockback. It must be killed before the Mana Gauge reaches 100%. Also casts Sand Cones, Red Circles, Jagged Edge, Falling Boulders, and Sand Spheres. Once the tower is dead, the boss will cast Landwaster.
Sand Cones 3 massive cone AoEs will cover 1/6th of the arena, with 1/6th between it as a safe spot. Later on, a second set of Sand Cones will spawn in these safe spots a few moments after the first set. To handle this, players should stand on the edge of the second set of Sand Cones, moving to where the first set was after they go off.
Red Circles Multiple red circle AoEs will spawn. Avoid as necessary.
Sand Spheres Three spheres will spawn and begin casting To Dust. Each alliance should move to their own sphere and kill it quickly. If it finishes casting, the alliance will wipe. During this, a member of each alliance will be targeted with Falling Boulders.
Falling Boulders Obvious stack mechanic during Sand Spheres. Stand with your alliance to share the damage. Players should make sure they are with the correct group as two of these AoEs on one group will likely kill them and wipe the raid when the Sand Sphere explodes.
Landwaster Comes after the Command Tower dies. Does damage based on how high the Mana Gauge is.
Golems Two Golem adds will spawn that need to be tanked and must be killed ASAP. They will cast Demolish which does an alliance-wide AoE and grow larger and do more damage with each successful cast.
Submission Tower Large line AoEs will spawn, splitting the room into three areas. Each group should make sure they are at their Waymark. Standing in the AoEs will kill you. After landing, will leave a large blue puddle that deals heavy damage and leaves a DoT on anyone that touches it, so moving to your group is difficult. Also includes Sand Spheres and Falling Boulders.

Advice and Tips

  • Keep a close eye on the Control Towers when they get sliced and be sure to move out of the way. If you're unsure exactly where they will land, move far to either side of where it slides so you can avoid it easily.
  • Make sure you go to your group's marked location for Sand Spheres so you can help burn them down. If they don't die in time, it will wipe the alliance.

Attack Name Description
Crush Helm Attack that hits the MT five times. The first four hits apply a Physical Vulnerability Up each time that lasts for 3 seconds, just in time for the fifth hit to land while having 4 Vulnerability Up stacks. Shield as necessary.
Chariot Targets random player with a line AoE that moves with them. Targeted player should move towards the boss, and other players should make sure they aren't standing in the AoE. Followed by Cry of Victory
Cry of Victory The boss will turn to a random player and cast a 180° AoE that will cover all of the arena in front of him. Deals moderate damage and applies a stacking Vulnerability debuff.
Crush Weapon Large AoEs will spawn on random players. Players need to run away from these as they will follow the player for ~3 hits. Keep them away from the rest of the alliance. Standing in all of them will kill you without a dedicated healer.
Trample He will do a large figure 8 from his position. Players need to move out of the way, either standing very far away, against his sides, or slightly in front/behind him to ensure you aren't hit by the unmarked AoE as he moves. Just as he finishes the cast, you can see the path he will take for a moment. Players struck will be knocked back and receive a Vulnerability stack. He will always move to his right to start the figure 8.
Maverick Multiple clones of the boss will spawn along the outer edges of the arena and charge across. There will be two small safe spots beside where the line of clones starts and ends. Standing in the AoEs causes massive damage or death.
Archaeodemons Three Archaeodemons will spawn in the center of a large hexagonal AoE. Each group should move to their marked location as the hexagon will close, trapping players inside and preventing players outside from assisting. Must be tanked. Uses massive AoEs that should be positioned to the outside of the arena. Be aware as the boss will charge around the room, knocking anyone on the outer half of the hexagon into the middle, potentially aiming the AoEs at the rest of the alliance. Must be killed before the Aetherial Acceleration Gauge reaches 100% or the alliance will wipe.
Heavenly Subjugation Comes after the Archaeodemons die. Does damage based on how high the Aetherial Acceleration Gauge is.
Embrace Obvious large blue AoEs will spawn around the arena before turning invisible after a moment, although they will pulse occasionally so players can see them. If stepped on, they will bind all players in a large radius around them. The bind can be dispelled if necessary.
Pomp and Circumstance Proximity based damage centered on the boss.
Clones Clones will charge across the arena at times, leaving on small spaces on either side of the long line AoEs.
Dark Geas The room will go dark, players will receive a bleed debuff, and small purple Dark Circles will appear across the room. Players must interact with the Dark Circles to break them. If this is not done in time, the alliance will wipe. Casts Maverick immediately after, with 1 less clone each time.

Advice and Tips

  • It's best to stay close to the boss so it's easier to avoid Cry of Victory.
  • Players marked with Chariot should bring it close to the boss so others do not need to sprint across the room to dodge Cry of Victory.
  • Watch for the Embraces as they can snare you while you dodge Clones, leaving you in the path of their line AoEs.
  • Trample is deceptively large and moves quite quickly. Make sure you are in place to avoid or quickly dodge out of the way of the AoE.

Soulfix Large AoE centered on the boss.
Divine Commandments A large angel face or demon face will appear on the screen, followed by the command to either turn away or scatter. Basically Simon Says. If you do the mechanic incorrectly, you get a stack of Unnerved.
  • Turn Away: look away from the boss if you had the angel face, look at the boss if you had the demon face.
  • Scatter: keep moving if you had the angel face, stand still if you had the demon face.
Unnerved Stacking debuff received from various mechanics. Three stacks changes it to the Graven debuff where you turn you into a chicken and run to the edge of the platform.
Trepidation Large green rings appear on the ground with a meteor falling towards the center. At least one player must stand in the circle to prevent heavy alliance-wide AoE damage, which will turn the ring to a slightly brighter and more glowy version. One player must stand in each comet. Instead, only the player will take a small amount of damage.
Unrelenting A series of conal AoEs will spawn from the front of the boss.
Judgement Blade Marks players with glowing blue swords and spawns large square AoEs around the arena. Marked players will eventually drop a massive Cross-shaped line AoE on their position.
