You have conquered Chaos, a primal force of deific power. Omega, frustrated in its attempts to process the results of your improbable victory, has decided to conduct a supplemental stage of testing. Drawing on the incomplete data of a foe who once stood firm against Omega itself, the machine generates a new simulacrum for you to face: the legendary Midgardsormr, Father of Dragons.

Midgardsormr

Midgardsormr has 3 distinct phases, during which he uses the following moves and mechanics.

Phase 1

Attack Name Description
Ambient Aether Will do two actions in a row, either a Horizontal Spin or a Vertical Flip. Determines which action he will use next.
  • Double Spin: Massive AoE centered on Midgardsormr. Slightly larger than his hitbox. Deals heavy damage and applies a Vulnerability stack. After you see the start of the second spin, move out to avoid being hit.
  • Spin + Flip: Massive donut AoE centered on Midgardsormr. Must be standing in his hitbox to avoid. Deals heavy damage and applies a Vulnerability stack. After you see the flip start, move into his hitbox to avoid being hit.
  • Double Flip: Massive cross AoE (each line is the width of his hitbox) centered on Midgardsormr, with the directions relative to his position instead of the arena. Deals heavy damage and applies a Vulnerability stack. Tank should keep him facing North and wait until he begins his second flip before moving so that the safe spots other players are moving to remain safe spots.
Earth Shakers Multiple players will be marked with the yellow Earth Shaker marker. Players should spread out and avoid overlapping as multiple conal AoEs will shoot out from Midgardsormr to and through the marked players. Deals moderate damage, with 2-3 stacked Earth Shakers enough to kill anyone that's not a tank.
Akh Morn Obvious stack mechanic. Hits multiple times, and will pick a new target if the original one dies, so make sure to stack even if you can't make it to the marked player in time. Hits ~3 times to start with, with an additional hit for each time its used after. Will one-shot a solo player.
Thunderstorm Multiple players will be marked with large purple AoEs. After a few seconds, they'll explode, dealing heavy damage to all players standing in the AoE. Spread to avoid hitting other players and don't stack the AoEs as you will die. Followed by Lightning.
Lightning Immediately after Thunderstorm. Four large AoE circles will target a random player. After a few seconds, they will explode, dealing moderate damage to any players inside.
Blizzard Two players will be marked with large white AoE circles. After a few seconds, it will explode, dealing light damage and leaving behind an Ice Puddle that will grow over time. Best to drop along one of the edges so it doesn't take up more space than necessary.
Cauterize The boss will leap away and reappear along an edge of the arena. After a few seconds, he will charge across the arena, dealing damage in a massive line AoE (~50% of the platform). Avoid standing in his path so you don't take extra damage.
Scarlet Thread Used during Cauterize. Multiple red orbs will spawn along all edges of the arena. After a few seconds, multiple line AoEs will appear in a straight line from them, making a crisscross pattern with small squares of safe spots between them. A moment later those AoEs will detonate, dealing light damage and applying a stack of Suppuration as the next set of Scarlet Thread AoEs light up, covering up the previous safe spots. Signals the start of Phase 2.

Advice and Tips

  • Start moving to dodge after the second move for Ambient Aether begins instead of the first.
  • If you get the Blizzard marker, take it to a wall so it doesn't take up more space than necessary when it grows.

Phase 2

Signaled when the boss leaps away to begin casting Cauterize.

Attack Name Description
Ancient Dragon A large dragon add that spawns in the center of the room. Immune to damage until all Immortal Keys are killed. Should be tanked facing a wall. Must be killed before the Aether Gauge reaches 100%.
  • Frost Breath: large frontal cone AoE.
  • Rime Wreath: large AoE centered on the dragon.
Immortal Keys Seven Immortal Keys will spawn. All must be killed so players can attack the Ancient Dragon.
Protostar Midgardsormr's Ultimate. Deals more damage the higher the Aether Gauge is. Will wipe the group if it reaches 100%. Signals the start of Phase 3.

Advice and Tips

  • Whoever is tanking the Ancient Dragon should stand beside a key and deal damage to it as the DPS won't be able to get near while it is using its various AoE abilities.
  • Avoid attacking the Ancient Dragon until all Immortal Keys are dead so the tank doesn't need to worry about aggro.

Phase 3

Uses all abilities from Phase 1 except Scarlet Threads.

Attack Name Description
Tail End Tankbuster. Does heavy damage.
Exaflares Multiple large AoEs with pointing arrows will spawn along the edge of the arena. After a few seconds, it will explode, and then slowly explode with more AoEs in a straight line until it reaches the far wall. Will need to deal with Lightning during this.
Northern Cross Creates thin ice on the ground, causing players to slide a great distance if they move in any direction. Often used with Ambient Aether.
Akh Rahl Targets ~2 random players for a unmarked AoE attack. Players should immediately move out of it as it will continue pulsing for quite a while. Deals light damage with each hit to any player standing inside of it, but will quickly kill anyone who remains.

Advice and Tips

  • Keep an eye on the Exaflares start locations; you can dodge the rest of them more easily by moving to stand behind one of the first ones after its initial hit.
  • Make sure to move out of the Akh Rahl as your healer won't be able to keep you alive through it.
  • Many of the mechanics will start to overlap in this phase; don't get overwhelmed!
