Castrum Meridianum Image.png
So begins the third phase of Operation Archon, which entails a frontal assault upon Castrum Meridianum, Gaius van Baelsar's seat of power. Forming the main thrust, the Immortal Flames will strike at the stronghold with all their strength, though this is but a feint. While the garrison's eyes are drawn outwards, you and your comrades must steal past its defenses and attempt to deactivate the magitek field which protects the Praetorium, the fortress within a fortress wherein the Ultima Weapon is believed to be housed.

Cid is broadcasting dialogue over a linkpearl or speaker. Cid
This is Cid. To review, our goal is to deactivate the magitek field.
If you could create a diversion─that's to say, wreak lots of havoc─I'll search for the field generator.
The Black Eft
We must hold the enemy here! All units─attack!

The central crossing is overrun! Requesting immediate reinforcements!

Gah, damn these savages! Deploy the reserve colossi!

How can this be...? R-Reinforcements! We need more reinforcements!
Cid is broadcasting dialogue over a linkpearl or speaker. Cid
Forename, how are you faring? ...Reached a dead end, you say? I believe I know where you are.

There's a disposal chute nearby. Find it and jump in, and you'll emerge in a different sector.

Forename, assault crafts are near! Watch out for incoming fire!

I've located the controls for the security system. A moment while I disable the barriers.

I'm also pleased to say I've found a suit of armor. Press on─I'll meet you just ahead.
Another bulkhead, eh? Fortunately I'm equipped for the task. Stand back!

Come on, the field generator should be just up ahead!

There it is! Keep the enemy occupied while I take it out of commission!

Damn, reinforcements! Take care of them, would you?

Diverting all power to cannons!
My lord was quite taken with you and the power you possess─the “Echo.” Naturally, I could not help but wonder whom this prince among men might be...

Only to discover that you are but another adventurer. No better than the multitude.

Yet in spite of this, the masses hold you their champion, and shower honors upon your head. It defies all reason.

How is it that you could be such a thorn in our side? Wherever you appear, you leave havoc in your wake. You even slew Rhitahtyn, one of our very finest.

Well...I will not speculate. Truth be told, I couldn't care less how you have done these things. What matters to me is the fact that you have done them.

If you are allowed to continue, you will eventually deprive me of all that I have toiled for─all that is mine by right!

My minions, my comrades...even my lord Gaius!

Well, you cannot have him!

His dreams and ambitions, his body and soul─they are mine, do you hear me!? All mine!

I lost everything once before! I will not suffer it to happen again!

I will kill you, adventurer! Only your death can bring me peace!
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene end.
You will not take any more from me!

The pain I have suffered, I shall visit upon you a hundredfold!

You have made me wroth!

Hmph, you're tough, I grant you that.

But I will break you soon enough!

You will not defeat me! You will not!
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene start.
No... <sob> It's happening...all over again...

Please... I cannot bear it... <sob> Don't take him...away from me...

My lord Gaius!!!
Another poor fool who craved Gaius's affection over all else... May her soul know rest.

'Tis a miracle no harm has come to you, my friend. One for which I will happily give thanks.

And thanks to your fine diversionary work, we've succeeded in bringing down the generator tower─and with it, the magitek field!

The way to the Praetorium now lies open. The only problem is, we can't reach it on foot.

Nay, we'll need to take the Enterprise. I left her at the Ceruleum Processing Plant, so let's regroup there.

This is it, Forename! The final confrontation awaits!

If I didn't know better, I'd swear you had a personal grudge against magitek armor.

What can I say? I couldn't bear to let you have all the fun.

Don't worry—Biggs and Wedge have everything in hand. Truth be told, I think they like having the work of three men.

Wedge wasn't exactly pleased to be left behind, though, and made quite sure I knew it. I must say, our recent struggles have done wonders for the lad's spirit.

Given the size of this place, I suspected there might be an armor or three to be had. And here we are.

Hmmm...not as bad as I thought. If I have half Marques's talent for mending things, I should be able to get it working again.

Listen, Forename─we intercepted an imperial communication indicating that the Ultima Weapon is indeed being housed within the Praetorium.

We also learned that the field which protects the compound is powered by no fewer than three generator towers.

If you're to deactivate the field, you'll need to locate and disable them all.

And I'm here to help you do just that.

See that chute? It leads to waste disposal.

Somewhere nearby, there will be a ceruleum facility supplying fuel to the closest of the three towers.

Find the place and break things.

Go on ahead, Forename. I'll be along as soon as I finish my repairs.
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene end.
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene start.
There you are!

I didn't have the patience to take the long way 'round.

I see you've disabled the first generator. That leaves us with two.

Ah, bugger. That was me, wasn't it?

Well, there's nothing for it but to press on. We must see to the remaining generators before the enemy has the chance to regroup!

You go on ahead, Forename! I'll bring up the rear!

Let's raise some hell!
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene end.
Stand back! I'm going to blast open the bulkhead!

This might take a while! Watch my back!

I'm almost there! Keep that thing occupied!

Damn it, that colossus is enhanced! Hold on—I'll try to think of something!
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene start.
Fine work, Forename!

Stand clear. I have a mind to loose some fireworks.

Diverting all power to cannons!

Damn it. There goes the core. I fear I may have overestimated its maximum operating capacity...by a few orders of magnitude. I blame Marques.

Ahem. We'll need to find another way to bring down the third generator.
Well, well...the traitor himself. And with his meddlesome friend for company.
You go on ahead, Forename. I need to get to the bottom of something.
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene end.
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene start.
It's me! Are you all right!?

That's an assault craft you're up against! You don't stand a chance with conventional weapons!

You're going to need something big to bring it down. A mortar, a cannon—anything!

Hold on, Forename! I'm on my way!
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene end.
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene start.
Fools! If you are resolved to die here, you might at least have done so without first making a mess of the place!

I see that Garlond is not with you. More's the pity, I had hoped to slay him myself. But never mind the traitor for now.

I have so looked forward to this meeting...Forename Surname.

Yes, I know much and more about you. About your strength...and your hidden talents.

I would sample them firsthand—and you will indulge me.
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene end.
Come, hero, show me what you can do. Show me...everything!
I see...
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene start.
My lord was quite taken with you and the power you possess—the “Echo.” Naturally, I could not help but wonder whom this prince among men might be...

You lot! Make yourselves useful!

You're mine!

You have made me wroth!

Noooooo! I will not lose...to the likes of you!

I've toyed with you long enough!

Lord...Gaius...!

No... <sob> It's happening...all over again...

...And the wonders do not end there. Truthfully now—did you really mean to send that assault craft crashing into the generator tower? If you did—you're a bloody liar. If you didn't—well...you're too modest!

Whichever you are, you've managed to open the way to the Praetorium. The only problem is, we can't reach it on foot.

Nay, we'll need to take the Enterprise. I left her at the Ceruleum Processing Plant, so let's regroup there.

The Black Eft
Divider3.png
Attack Name Description
Adds Multiple waves of adds will spawn, consisting of Imperial War Hound, 8th Cohort Laquearius, and Imperial Signifer. Should be picked up by the OT.
Photon Stream Frontal ranged attack dealing moderate damage.
Magitek Cannon AoE targeting a random player that deals heavy damage.

Advice and Tips

  • The adds can be ignored as they will disappear once the boss dies.
    • If your group chooses to pull all of the adds from the start into the boss room, you'll likely need to just nuke everything down as the adds from outside the boss room will remain after he dies. It is possible to escape to the next room without killing them, but is dangerous and players will likely die.
Magitek Vanguard F-I

  • The adds can be AoE'd down with the boss or ignored.
Magitek Colossus Rubricatus
Divider3.png
Attack Name Description
Adds Multiple waves of adds will spawn, consisting of 8th Cohort Laquearius, 8th Cohort Medicus, and Magitek Vanguard H-1. Untargetable Magitek Hands will also spawn that Cid will take care of. Should be picked up by the OT.
Grand Sword Frontal cleave dealing moderate damage.
Exhaust Frontal line AoE dealing moderate damage.
Magitek Ray AoE that targets a random player, dealing moderate damage.
Magitek Field Buff granting Magitek Colossus Rubricatus Vulnerability Down. Dispelled when Cid kills the Magitek Hands.

Advice and Tips

  • If you bring the boss to where Cid is using his AoEs on the machinery, he will "help" you kill him.
  • A well timed stun can prevent the boss' use of Magitek Field.
Livia Sas Junius
Divider3.png

Phase 1

Livia cannot be tanked in this phase; she will lock on to whoever last hit her with an Artillery Cannon.

Attack Name Description
Magitek Armor Can only be damaged with Mark XLIII Artillery Cannons. Requires 8 shots to break. Livia will target whoever last hit her with an Artillery Cannon with Photon Stream and Magitek Cannon.
Mark XLIII Artillery Cannons Used to break the Magitek Armor. Can only be fired after the slow loading process from the Magitek Hands. Can be destroyed but will be repaired after a certain amount of time.
Magitek Hands Activated by interacting with a Magitek Missile Pile. Will collect a missile to load into the Artillery Cannon, first loading the one nearest to it unless it is broken, then moving on to the far one. Can be killed very easily, but will respawn after a certain amount of time.
Photon Stream frontal melee attack dealing minimal damage.
Magitek Cannon AoE attack centered on random player dealing heavy damage.
Adds Multiple adds will spawn each time an Artillery Cannon is used and will target the Magitek Hands and the Artillery Cannons to make the fight last longer.

Advice and Tips

  • The last player to hit her should stand in the middle to keep Livia there so she won't damage the Artillery Cannons.
  • It's best to load all 4 Artillery Cannons before firing so that it's easier to group up all of the adds and burn them down. It also means that for the second wave, you will defeat her Magitek Armor so you don't have to deal with the rest of them.

Phase 2

Attack Name Description
Aglaia Bite Melee attack dealing moderate damage.
Aglaia Climb Frontal attack that hits the target rapidly.
Delta Trance Melee attack hitting target 5 times.
Roundhouse AoE attack dealing minimal damage.
Stunning Sweep AoE attack dealing moderate damage and inflicting Paralysis.
Angry Salamander Frontal line AoE dealing moderate damage.
Adds Spawns ~3 waves of adds consisting of 7th Cohort Secutors and the final wave having a Magitek Colossus.

Advice and Tips

  • Make sure the OT picks up the Magitek Colossus so it doesn't kill anyone.
