Yaks have long been domesticated by Elezen tribes for their hides, their milk, and their meat. Much like sheep, yak hair grows fairly quickly and must be sheared regularly to prevent the beasts from collapsing due to heat exhaustion during the summer moons. Rarely seen in the wild before the Seventh Astral Era, the Calamity saw great herds of yaks freed from their pens, and now the feral descendants of these fugitives roam parts of Eorzea as they did thousands of years past.
