Prerequisities
- Disciple of War or Magic at Level 80.
- Completion of Shadowbringers.
- Completion of The City of Lost Angels.
- Completion of level 80 job specific quest.
Stage 1 (iLvl 485)
This questline starts in Kugane where you can find Keiten with the Hail to the Queen quest. Note: there are several quests before you reach the actual relic portion of the questline. Reach Fire in the Forge to start Stage 1.
Speak to Gerolt in Gangos (6.3-5.0) to begin Fire in the Forge. You will need to acquire 4 Thavnairian Scalepowder, after which Gerolt will craft a Resistance Weapon for you.
This process is repeatable: once Hail to the Queen is completed, the repeatable sidequest Resistance Is (Not) Futile becomes available. You will need to buy 4 Thavnairian Scalepowder for each additional Resistance Weapon that you want to have crafted.

Stage 2 (iLvl 500)
Complete the Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty Main Scenario Quest. Then, with your Stage 1 Resistance Weapon in hand, talk to Zlatan to begin the For Want of a Memory quest. You will need to collect 20 each of 3 sets of Memories.
Memories have a low drop rate from activities in The Bozjan Southern Front. FATEs in specified open world maps have 100% drop rate if you receive a gold medal.

Stage 3 (iLvl 500)
In order to add a glow effect to your Resistance Weapon, with it in hand, talk again to Zlatan to begin The Will to Resist quest. You will need to collect 6 Bitter Memory of the Dying.

Stage 4 (iLvl 510)
To continue the Resistance Weapon quests, you must complete the Fit for a Queen quest, which requires completion of Delubrum Reginae and indirectly Castrum Lacus Litore.
Get to Level 10 with your Resistance Rank (78,000 total Mettle) and then with your Resistance Weapon in hand, talk to Gerolt in Gangos to begin the In the Queen's Image quest, which in turn will direct you to Zlatan to begin the Change of Arms quest.

Stage 5 (iLvl 515)
In order to add a glow effect and another 5 levels to your Resistance Weapon, with it in hand, talk again to Gerolt to begin the one time quest The Resistance Remembers. You will need to collect 18 each of 2 sets of Memories.
Memories have a guaranteed drop rate from completing specific alliance raids. FATEs in specified open world maps also have 100% drop rate if you receive a gold medal.
Haunting and Vexatious memories of the dying only need to be collected for your first relic weapon - afterwards, you may skip from the Loathsome step directly to the Timeworn Artifact step.
Finally, talk to Zlatan to begin the A New Path of Resistance. This time you must collect 15 Timeworn Artifacts.
Timeworn artifacts have a chance to drop any time you complete 10 floors of Palace of the Dead, with higher chances on higher floors (101+ is nearly guaranteed a drop). Delubrum Reginae drops 3 guaranteed artifacts after you complete the instance.

Stat "Refinement"
Upon turning in the 15 Timeworn Artifacts, you will be provided with the level 515 weapon, and be permitted to allocate bonus stats based on the table below.
If you which to reallocate these stats, you can do so through using 4 Aetherial Sealants, which can be purchased for 100 Allagan Tomestone of Poetics each from the Special Arms sections of Auriana in Mor Dhona - Fogfens (22.7-6.7) or Hismena in Idyllshire - Greengrub Mudplots (5.8-5.3). Note this item only becomes available to buy following the completion of A New Path of Resistance.

Stage 6 (iLvl 535)
Complete A New Playing Field and then What Dreams Are Made Of, to unlock 3 quests from Zlatan (Spare Parts, Tell Me a Story, and A Fond Memory). These three quests need to be completed only once for your first weapon, and require you to acquire the following from Zadnor or Raids:

After finishing these quests, complete A Done Deal to unlock the final quest of your resistance weapon upgrade.
These quests only need to be completed once for your first relic weapon - afterwards, you may skip from the Timeworn Artifact step directly to the Raw Emotion step.
Finally, talk to Zlatan to begin Irresistible, which requires you to collect 15 Raw Emotions.
Raw emotions have a chance to drop any time you complete a floor set clear of Heaven on High, with higher chances on higher floors (51+ is nearly guaranteed a drop). The Dalriada, Delubrum Reginae, and level 70 dungeons have guaranteed drop rates on completion.
