Ceremony of Eternal Bonding
Players who wish to profess their devotion to one another may undertake the special rite of passage known as the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding. Over the course of the special quest, The Ties that Bind, players will prepare for, and hold a ceremony with their partner. Any two player may undertake the ritual together, regardless of race, gender or affiliation. Planning Your Ceremony[edit]
In order to accept the The Ties that Bind quest, you must be in a party of two with your partner, in East Shroud, and each must be equipped with promise wristlets.
In order to obtain the promise wristlets, log into the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station using the service account containing the character you wish to use in the Ceremony and select a promise wristlet corresponding to your desired plan.
Standard Plan | Gold Plan | Platinum Plan | |
Promise of Innocence (Standard) | Promise of Passion (Gold) | Promise of Devotion (Platinum) |
After selecting a promise wristlet, you will be directed to a description page where you can confirm your plan and wristlet. After completing your purchase, you will receive an in-game notification through the moogle delivery service which will contain the promise wristlet you selected.
- You can only receive one promise wristlet per application. Both you and your partner must have identical promise wristlets to undertake the quest "The Ties that Bind." You can either purchase wristlets separately, or one person can buy both and give one to his or her partner.
- Please be warned that, when equipped, these items can gain spiritbond. A promise wristlet cannot be traded once it gains spiritbond.
- In the event both you and your partner have different promise wristlets equipped, the wristlet of lesser value (standard < gold < platinum) will determine the service plan for both players when undertaking the quest "The Ties that Bind."
To begin preparing for your ceremony, you will first need to speak with Claribel and start The Ties that Bind. Over the course of the quest, you will acquire ceremony attire, prepare a set of eternity rings with your partner, and make reservations at the Ivory Chapel. The quest concludes with the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding.
The Ceremony of Eternal Bonding[edit]
Preparations will begin at the Sanctum of the Twelve in the East Shroud, where players can choose from one of three ceremony styles. The officiant presiding over the ceremony, as well as the cutscenes shown, will differ depending on your selected style. The Ceremony of Eternal Bonding will take place at the Ivory Chapel housed within the Sanctum of the Twelve. Inside the chapel, you will find dressing rooms for the ceremony, as well as a waiting room for guests.

Scheduling & Initiating a Ceremony[edit]
Scheduling a Ceremony[edit]
Once you have settled upon a plan, speak with Etoinelle to schedule a date and time for your ceremony. You must be in a party of two with your partner, and each have at least one free space in your inventories before speaking with her.
Registration opens at different times depending on the service plan denoted on your wristlet for ceremonies to be held during the week-long period beginning the next Friday. This means that a maximum of two weeks may pass between registration and the ceremony.
At the time you schedule your ceremony, Etoinelle will furnish you and your partner each with a blank invitation. Using the blank invitation will produce ceremony invitations necessary for guests to attend. You and your partner may each send up to 40 invitations for a total of 80 guests. Invitations can be traded directly to other players, or sent via the moogle delivery service.
Please be warned that only those who possess an invitation may attend a ceremony. This requirement also extends to the hosts, who must be in possession of their blank invitations. Commencement time and other details may be reviewed by examining the invitation in your inventory.
Starting a Ceremony[edit]
When the scheduled time for your ceremony arrives, both you and your partner, along with any guests in attendance, may enter the venue by speaking with Etoinelle.
Please be warned that the ceremony will be postponed if both you and your partner are not present at the venue within 20 minutes (Earth time) of the doors opening.
On the day of the ceremony, please ensure that you have your blank invitation, your wristlet, and one free slot in your inventory. During the ceremony, you and your partner will receive eternity rings in exchange for your promise wristlets.
Upon arriving at the venue, you and your partner will be shown to separate dressing rooms to attire yourself and finalize the ceremony plan. The dressing room is the last place where you may attire yourself prior to the ceremony. Please ensure that your appearance is as you desire ahead of time. After you and your partner have finalized the ceremony plan in your respective dressing rooms, you will have another 20 minutes (Earth time) before the ceremony commences.
Ordinarily, the ceremony will proceed through its stages at a predetermined pace. If both you and your partner ring the eternity bell, however, you may move to the next stage without waiting.
When the ceremony has ended, you may report to Claribel to complete the special quest The Ties that Bind and receive rewards according to your service plan.
Attending a Ceremony[edit]
If you have been invited to attend a Ceremony of Eternal Bonding, you must receive an invitation from the couple to be joined. Please be reminded that the invitation must be in your inventory to attend the ceremony. When the scheduled time for the ceremony arrives, you and the other guests may enter the venue by speaking with Etoinelle.
The ceremony proper commences 40 minutes (Earth time) after doors open, or earlier at the hosts' discretion. For this reason, it is recommended that guests arrive at the chapel as soon as possible. The ceremony will require a maximum of two hours (Earth time) from start to finish. If for any reason you cannot arrive on time, assuming that the ceremony is still in progress, you may enter at any time.
As a guest, you may appear in cutscenes during the course of the ceremony. As such, please ensure that your appearance is as you desire ahead of time. While there is no strictly enforced dress code for these ceremonies, formal attire is available for purchase from Rianne in Ul'dah, Steps of Nald.
In the Case of Postponement[edit]
The ceremony may be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Should this happen, your invitation will automatically be removed from your inventory.
As the hosts will be required to reschedule their ceremony and send out a new set of invitations, please wait to hear word from them regarding a new date and time.
