Halicarnassus has 4 distinct phases, during which she uses the following moves and mechanics.
Phase 1
Attack Name |
Description
Ribbit
The boss will turn towards a random player and cast a massive frontal cone AoE (~165°). Anyone hit by it will be turned into a frog for ~15 seconds.
Spellblade Thunder III
The boss will turn towards a random player and aim a line AoE at them. Deals heavy damage and applies a stack of Vulnerability and a dispellable Paralysis debuff.
Spellblade Holy
Marks one player with an obvious stack mechanic and two players with markers and large AoEs. Marked players should move away from the group while everyone else should stack together.
Spellblade Blizzard III
Large AoE centered on the boss. Must move out of melee range to avoid.
Spellblade Fire III
Large donut AoE centered on the boss. Must stand very close (basically in her hitbox) or at max range to avoid. Applies a stack of Vulnerability and a dispellable fire DoT.
Place Dark Token
Multiple untargetable Soul Reaper adds spawn and create large AoE circles centered on them.
The Queen's Waltz
Each player will be targeted with a thin conal AoE that shoots out from the boss and goes to the wall.
The Playing Field
The four center tiles will display various icons, and players should stand on the matching icons. Standing in the wrong one or not standing in any at all will cause heavy damage and apply a Vulnerability stack and suppuration debuff when she casts The Game.
- Tank Icon: blue shield. Only tanks should be standing in this.
- Healer Icon: green plus. Only healers should be standing in this.
- DPS Icon: pink sword. Only DPS should be standing in this (sorry WAR, this doesn't count you)
Panel Swap
Changes the tiles to dark stone with a diagonal line of shiny blue tiles. Signals the start of Phase 2.
Advice and Tips
- Make sure you're standing in the right tile for The Playing Field.
- You can stack together to bait The Queen's Waltz AoE's.
Phase 2
She uses Spellblade Blizzard III, Spellblade Fire III, Place Dark Token from Phase 1 here.
Signaled by the first use of Panel Swap, when the floor turns dark and blue.
Attack Name |
Description
The Queen's Waltz
Causes dark tiles to explode. Players must stand on blue tiles to avoid. Deals moderate damage and applies a Vulnerability stack.
Place Token
Spawns a Great Dragon add. Must be picked up and tanked by the OT and kept facing away from the group.
- Frost Breath: used by the Great Dragon. Does moderate damage in a wide frontal cone.
Mindjack
A forced march mechanic. Has multiple variations that tell you which direction you will move in. Adjust your position so you stay on the blue tiles. Each lasts for ~3 seconds. Usually paired with one or more other mechanics.
- Forward March: forces players to run forwards.
- Right Face: forces players to run to the right.
- Left Face: forces players to run to the left.
- About Face: forces players to run backwards.
Spellblade Holy
Marks each player with a large orange AoE. Used during the Place Dark Token.
Aetherial Tear
Summons a rift and pulls all players into it. Signals the start of Phase 3.
Advice and Tips
- Make sure to stay on the blue tiles as much as you can to avoid The Queen's Waltz.
- The Great Dragon should be tanked on one of the blue tiles.
- To deal with the Place Dark Token and Spellblade Holy combo, players should wait for the Soul Reaper's AoE's to go off before spreading out to avoid stacking the Spellblade Holy AoE's.
Phase 3
A simple mini-maze. Players walk off the non-fenced edges of the small grassy platforms into the shifting sands, moving in the direction of the sand. The pattern is the same each time, so it's simple to get out after a few tries. If you finish this quickly, you will receive haste and damage up buffs. Tanks should be aware that aggro resets during this phase. Phase 4 starts when you return and she casts Panel Swap a second time.
Phase 4
Uses all abilities from Phase 1 along with Mindjack from Phase 2.
Attack Name |
Description
Place Dark Token
Spawns multiple untargetable Soul Reaper adds around the edge of the arena. They will send out an AoE that covers all tiles in a line before it in a light blue AoE. A single tile will be unaffected by this, and players will need to move to it ASAP. Spellblade Blizzard III happens during this.
Only DPS should be standing in this (sorry WAR, this doesn't count you)
- Frog Icon: frog face. Only players hit by Ribbit should be standing in this.
Dimensional Wave
Moderate raid-wide AoE damage.
Advice and Tips
- Now, after she casts The Playing Field, she will use Ribbit. Players should make sure to move out of the way if the tiles are not frogs.
- Spellblade Holy will be paired with Mindjack now, so players should ensure they are all looking at the boss when they are stacking so they go the right way with the stack marker person.
