To be honest, I already know I want us to work together. But we've still got to talk it over with everyone.
After: Let Fill Your Hearts with Pride
The tale of our victory in East End will be known to every Ala Mhigan from the Fringes to the Peaks when I am through. You'll see!
After: Where Men Go as One
More men means we need more arms and armor, but we'll find a way. We've come this far, haven't we?
After: Lies, Damn Lies, and Pirates
You should know that even after accounting for the dead, some of our number remain missing.
We've come to suspect that these missing men might've been collaborators who aided the Skulls. I don't want to believe it, but it would explain a great deal...
After: Stormblood
We bought this freedom with blood. That of our friends and our enemies. I'll be damned if we're going to give it up again.
After: Return of the Bull
They've been quiet since their treachery in the throne room, but the Qalyana are a problem we'll need to solve at some point...
After: Under the Moonlight
So the grave was empty. By Rhalgr... How many people did we lose bringing that bastard down─and now he might still be alive?
After: The Face of War
We can barely find time to rest now that the fighting's started. I had a mind to join in the fighting myself, but Lyse insisted that I see to things here.
After: The Gift of Mercy
You certainly have a gift for arriving in the nick of time! I don't know what we would've done if you and Raubahn hadn't arrived to put down that blasphemy.
Then there's Fordola, who knows how to hold her own. While we obviously don't see eye to eye─and probably never will─perhaps it's time I saw her for who she's become, rather than who she was.
Lowest collectability threshold:
Now then, on closer inspection... No glaring imperfections or otherwise. Solid work that passes muster. As befits an artisan such as yourself.
Middle collectability threshold:
Now then, on closer inspection... Better than many such items that've passed through my hands. Even someone with my limited experience can tell the difference. Well done!
Highest collectability threshold:
Now then, on closer inspection... Bugger me, you don't see something like that every day. Hells, you're lucky to see something like that once in a blue moon! I don't know what you're doing, but keep it up!
Any collectability (Rank 5 Items):
The fight never ends, friend─it just changes. The Resistance is still needed all across Gyr Abania, and contributions like yours are invaluable. Thank you!
When spoken to:
Let's each do our best, eh, Forename?
Gyr Abanian Souvenir:
Ah, so you've brought me some Gyr Abanian souvenirs? Good, good. For all they preach about not being wasteful, they sure don't seem to mind wasting gil.
| YT
Satisfaction maxed:
Thank you so much for all your help, Forename! I think we've got enough goods to satisfy my Gridanian clients─or better yet, whet their appetite for even more!
Cutscene start.
The Gridanian collectors send their warmest regards, Forename. The items you provided were quite well received, I'm told.
Thanks to the contributions of you and others, we've earned enough gil to start providing payments to some of the bereaved families. In fact, a young woman from one such family is here today and would like to say a few words.
My name's Germainne, miss... I joined the Resistance together with my father, but when the imperials attacked the Reach, he was killed...
I'm grateful for what you're doing, I am. I won't deny it's been hard ever since he passed, but I wasn't expecting anything, nor do I think I deserve it...but thank you all the same.
I didn't want to be a soldier when I was little. I wanted to learn things, get an education. Didn't work out that way on account of the occupation, of course. That's why Father and I joined the fight.
But now that the occupation's ended, I've been thinking... When Ala Mhigo needed soldiers, I became one, but now Ala Mhigo needs learned men and women. So I'm thinking that's what I'll use your gil to finally become. Thank you for this opportunity, miss.
Zenos himself cut her father down when he came to the Reach that day. From what I heard, he died giving his daughter a chance to escape.
We all had to make choices that day. I was wounded, so I chose to flee with Krile and some few others. But I wanted to stay and fight─I told him, I screamed at him...
But Meffrid, he wouldn't hear it. So he stayed, and I ran. I lived, and he died.
Came to light recently that he had family too. A wife and child. He never mentioned them before, so I had no idea...
I'd like to help them like the other families, but we don't know where they got to, or even if they're still alive. But we'll keep on searching until we do.
In the meantime, I'll have to content myself with helping those I can─and I do hope I can continue to count on you for assistance.
This is but the first step on an endless road. Full many of our friends died, and we owe it to them to do right by their loved ones.
And we will, Forename─I know we will! Where there's a will, there's a way!
We did well with those Gridanian collectors, but we'll need to expand if we want to continue raising money for the fund. In short, I'd like to start dealing in Far Eastern collectables.
Apparently, according to General Aldynn, there are a number of wealthy individuals in Ul'dah with a deep and abiding love for all things Hingan.
It goes without saying that the Ul'dahn elite have more gil to spend than their Gridanian counterparts on average, so I expect we can turn a greater profit with this venture.
It'll be more work than before, but I know you're up to the task!

M'naago now considers you a "Supporter of the Resistance Widows and Orphans Fund."
M'naago is pleased with your efforts. She now considers you a Supporter of the Resistance Widows and Orphans Fund!
And yet there is still much work to be done before the fund can provide sufficient aid to all the families of the deceased. To that end, M'naago has a new favor to ask of you...
When spoken to:
Much obliged for all the help, Forename. The soldiers' families give you their thanks as well.
Far Eastern Antique:
Far Eastern “antiques,” is it? Damned if I know how you can craft an antique, but the collectors don't seem to pay it any mind. If anything, this sort seems to appeal more.
Shishu Koban:
These days, more than a few Eorzeans have a fascination with all things Hingan bordering on obsession. Well, so long as they pay for their koban, I'll have no qualms indulging them!
Coral Horse:
They really do look just like a piece of coral, don't they? I can see why collectors seek them out for their aquariums.
Satisfaction maxed:
That ought to do it for now, Forename! Give me a moment to add this to our next outgoing shipment...
Cutscene start.
It's even better than we hoped, Forename! Those Ul'dahn collectors did their best to outbid each other for our Far Eastern collectables.
The proceeds far exceeded our expectations. We've enough to expand our operations and start looking after even more families.
Excuse me, I'm... Well, no one of consequence, really. It was my son who fought and died for the Resistance...
I came to thank you for your kindness and generosity, especially at a time like this when everyone should be looking to bigger and more important challenges, like the rebuilding of our great nation.
My son liked to say that when the fighting was finished, he would become a merchant. He'd sell anything and everything so that he could earn money and look after me...
I suppose, in a way, he is now...but I'd give it all up and more if I... I'm sorry, I don't mean any disrespect for what you've done for me and mine, but...
Thank you, miss. Good Day to you.
...Her son died when the main tower at Specula Imperatoris fell.
I was with Conrad before it happened─with him when he was urging those damn fool Skulls to lay down their arms and surrender. And he managed to do it! And then...and then...
Part of me still wonders...after, did we owe it to them to try and save them too? To dig through the rubble and try to help the ones who were trying to kill us only moments before...
Conrad would've wanted it, I know. But he was in no state to give orders, and those of us that were, well...
So he died, and they died. Conrad, our comrades. Enemies that surrendered, and those that didn't. Death all 'round and 'round.
Not that any of us had even an inkling of what was coming. Would Conrad have spent all that time negotiating if he had─would he and full many others still be alive if he had─if, if, if, sodding if!
...Sorry. No use dwelling on it. Best to look to the here and now. To what good we've done, and what more we can do.
All this talk about Conrad...don't know if you knew, but he had a wife. I've not taken any gil to her yet─reckon she's like to refuse until she knows the others are being looked after, so I thought it best to wait.
When the time comes, though...perhaps we ought to go and see her together.

Like before, I reckon it'd be for the best if we tried to trade in a more diverse range of collectables. Next, I'm thinking we ought to try our hand at consolation prizes from the Gold Saucer.
I trust you're familiar with the Saucer and its many delights? It's no secret, but in case you were unaware, it employs more than a few Ala Mhigans.
One of them happens to be a friend of mine. I mentioned the fund one day, and just like that, we got ourselves a new partner in crime.
Let me explain. There are prizes available only at the Gold Saucer─commodities sold exclusively to them by certain select suppliers. We're now one of them, savvy?
I'll wager you didn't think a soldier like me had any truck with places like the Saucer, eh? Bet you're wondering if I might run off with our profits and spend it all on MGP and silly hats?
With hair like this? Like hells I will.
All right, enough talk. Let's get to work!
Cutscene end.
When spoken to:
Bugger me, being a merchant's a lot more tiring than I ever imagined! How you holding up, Forename?
Gold Saucer Consolation Prize:
Not everybody can walk away from the Saucer with a fabulous prize. Some people even prefer these─and there are even others who won't ever bother to visit but like to pretend they did. Or maybe they've got some other reason for buying them? Who knows.
Cotter Dynasty Relic:
Some of the more educated collectors say that the Near Eastern influences are quite prominent in these designs. I don't know about that, but I do know that plenty of people are happy to pay good gil for them. Or MGP, as it were.
Maiden's Heart:
Little buggers may be hardy, but they need just the right conditions to form the shapes people prefer. At a glance, it seems you've brought a promising specimen...
When spoken to:
You've a heart of gold, Forename. We could have never come this far without you.
Yellow Kudzu Root:
I could go on about the myriad uses of this root─mostly medicinal, mind─but let's just say we'll put it to good use.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again: thank you, Forename.
At first I didn't quite understand what could drive wealthy collectors to spend gil hand over first on fancy trinkets. But when I thought about the time and effort you poured into your craft, and me into mine, it started to make sense...
Anyway, let's you and me keep our noses to the grindstone!

You're a godssend, you know that? All you've done for us, all you continue to do. There's no better word for it.
Still, I wager it's not entirely out of the kindness of your heart, eh? You enjoy the collectables trade─exhausting though it may be, there's still a solid sense of accomplishment. I know the feeling.
But we both ought to know by now that it's important not to overdo it. Take a rest, Forename─you've earned it.

I don't know how you can keep it up, Forename. Honestly! You're a veritable fountain of endless energy.
But I'll not hear it said that I'm keeping you all to myself. You've got places to go and other people to help. Take care, and thanks again!
Cutscene end.

Fifth option:
Ye gods, you're relentless! Like a machine at times, even!
As for me, some of the lads were heard to say more...merchanty these days? Stubborn and hard-nosed as ever, but somehow in a more mercantile sense.
I suppose I ought to take it as a compliment. For the longest time I thought I only had hunting and soldiering in my veins, so it comes as a bit of a relief to find I've got a knack for something else...
Sixth option:
By Rhalgr, Forename? Do you ever sleep, or do you just prefer to stay awake indefinitely putting us all to shame?
Heh, now that I think on it, we've been doing this for quite some time now, haven't we?
I mean, the goal's still the same, but the fund's grown leaps and bounds beyond what I originally envisioned...
It was only ever supposed to be a means to an end, you know? But somewhere along the line, I found myself taking joy in it all. Meeting new people, finding ways to satisfy their needs, watching them go home happy...
It's good, honest work, all the way through, and I hope to keep doing it for a good while yet─with your help, of course!

- Biography
- This twenty-two-year-old Peering Stones native joined the Resistance to help free her people, the M Tribe, from the tyranny of the Empire. Although M'naago dreamed of fighting even at the tender age of fifteen, her father insisted that she first master the hunter's path, lest she prove a burden to the cause. And so she spurned mundane skills such as cooking and the like, and focused solely on bow and blade. It was two summers past when M'rahz Nunh, M'naago's sire, at last permitted her to become a Resistance soldier. Known for her bright personality and unrelenting candor, it often fell to M'naago to bring her comrades back from the edge of despair. In the wake of the war, she now serves as Lyse's second-in-command, and is involved in procuring funds for bereaved families.
