  • According to Jalzahn, your relic weapon is presently not benefiting fully from the soul energy it holds. The problem, he posits, lies in the unattuned state of that energy to its host. Having struck a wall in his search for a solution, Jalzahn bids you recruit the assistance of the ill-tempered weaponsmith Gerolt.
  • Owing to your quick thinking, Gerolt has reluctantly agreed to lend his expertise to your cause. Deliver the good tidings to Jalzahn.
  • In an unlikely alliance, Jalzahn and Gerolt have devised the means by which your weapon may be further enhanced. It seems that, by rendering the relic aethertight by way of a special glaze, you will be able to attune its soul energy through normal use. Speak with Jalzahn when you are ready to begin the process.
  • Jalzahn has entrusted you the care of Gerolt's Zodiac glass. Present to him the relic you wish enhanced, and he will coat it in soulglaze. ※Should you misplace the Zodiac glass, you may obtain a new one by speaking with Drake at Hyrstmill.
This walkthrough was originally written during Patch 2.38. The values in-game (total light needed and amount received per activity) have likely been changed since Heavensward's release. The words used to describe the amount of light you receive (ie: Newborn Star) may also have been changed around as well. In short, don't take everything on this guide as absolute. The information below is left in its original form for archival purposes, with the exception of the values that are likely changed (the numbers) are in italics to attempt to show that what's listed here might be different from in-game. Players wishing to complete this quest can still use this walkthrough as an outline.

After completing Mmmmmm, Soulglazed Relics, you will need to acquire light from various activities. You will need 2000 light to upgrade your Novus to a Nexus weapon. Upon completing certain activities, you will get a notice about how much light was obtained (for example, "The Stardust Rod Novus emits a feeble light.")

Feeble: 8 Light
Gentle: 16 Light
Bright: 32 Light
Brilliant: 48 Light
Blinding: 96 Light
Newborn Star: 128 Light

By using Zodiac Glass item obtained from the Mmmmmm, Soulglazed Relics quest, you can check on the total light glazed onto your weapon. As you progress in tiers, the weapon image will change by increasing in light intensity.

No Activity: 0 - 199
Indistinct Activity: 200-399
Faint Activity: 400-599
Slight Activity: 600-799
Modest Activity: 800-999
Distinct Activity: 1000-1199
Robust Activity: 1200-1399
Vigorous Activity: 1400-1599
Intense Activity: 1600-1799
Extreme Activity: 1800-1999
Bursting Activity: 2000+ (Complete)

Light is collected by participating in a fate, dungeon, raid, pvp, or trial. Each event produces a base amount of light and can receive a bonus to increase the amount of light produced. Light production bonuses last for a two hour window. Not all events will receive a light production bonus during this time. At the end of the window, event bonuses will change. All events that are started during this window will receive the bonus upon completion, even if completion occurs after the change in windows. Windows and bonuses are the same across all servers.

Light Values By Event:

  • FATE | Base: Feeble | Bonus: None
  • Wolves Den | Base: Feeble | Bonus: Gentle
  • Map (Alexandrite) | Base: Gentle | Bonus: None
  • Turn 2, 4 | Base: Gentle | Bonus: Bright
  • Primal (HM) | Base: Gentle | Bonus: Bright
  • Primal (EX) | Base: Bright | Bonus: Brilliant
  • Turn 1, 5 | Base: Bright | Bonus: Brilliant
  • High Roulette | Base: Bright | Bonus: Brilliant
  • Expert Roulette | Base: Brilliant | Bonus: Blinding
  • Frontlines | Base: Brilliant | Bonus: Blinding
  • Second Coil | Base: Blinding | Bonus: None
  • Labyrinth of the Ancients | Base: Bright | Bonus: Brilliant
  • Syrcus Tower | Base: Blinding | Bonus: Newborn Star
  • World of Darkness | Base: Blinding | Bonus: Newborn Star

Once you have obtained 2000 light, return to Jalzahn and upgrade your Novus to a Nexus. You can then begin Wherefore Art Thou, Zodiac.
