Deciphering a Timeworn Map[edit]

In order to examine a timeworn map and later uncover buried treasure, players must first learn the actions Decipher and Dig. These actions can be acquired by completing the quest Treasures and Tribulations, offered by H'loonh in Wineport, Eastern La Noscea.

Once learned, players can use the action Decipher on a timeworn map to change it into a treasure map key item. Only one deciphered treasure map of any kind can be in your possession at any given time.

Discovering Treasure[edit]

Using a treasure map will bring up a window indicating the general area of the treasure. Using the action Dig in the approximate location shown on the map will cause a treasure chest to spawn. Examining the treasure chests will cause enemies to spawn nearby. This enemy (or enemies) must be defeated before being able to open the chest and claim your reward. All party members will receive rewards such as EXP, gil, tomestones, minions, aetherial gear, crafting ingredients (including HQ), housing materials, medicine, and elemental shards. Certain items may be available for lots.

  • If the enemy cannot be defeated within the allotted time, or you and your party leave the area, the treasure chest will disappear and the hunt will end.

Enemy Patterns[edit]

When the chest is opened, the enemies will spawn in different patterns, depending on the map used and which enemies spawn. More info about the specific enemy groups is available on the individual map pages.

Pattern Description
Pattern A 3 waves of enemies, with each spawning after the previous has been completely defeated
Pattern B 3 waves of enemies, with subsequent waves able to spawn before the current one has been defeated
Pattern C 1 powerful enemy to start, with a 2nd and 3rd wave spawning as the first enemy is brought down to a certain HP threshhold
Pattern D A single group (or just one enemy), where nothing else spawns after it is defeated

Rewards[edit]

If you wish to add rewards to the current list, please go to the actual map's page (listed at the top of this page) to do so and follow the format already in place. If you find a new item not already on the page, add a new "Item #", "Item # Count", and "Item # Pops" (making sure to use a number not already in use) with the new information.

The Aquapolis[edit]

Each Timeworn Dragonskin Map you complete has a chance to spawn a portal to enter The Aquapolis, an ancient treasure vault with multiple levels and increasingly strong enemies as you venture further inside.

The Lost Canals of Uznair[edit]

Each Timeworn Gazelleskin Map you complete has a chance to spawn a portal to enter The Lost Canals of Uznair, long-abandoned ruins filled with treasure. Structurally, it is effectively the same as the Aquapolis.

The Hidden Canals of Uznair[edit]

Inside the The Lost Canals of Uznair or The Shifting Altars of Uznair it's possible to acquire a Timeworn Thief's Map, which guarantees access to The Hidden Canals of Uznair, which grants different, rarer rewards than the Shifting Altars or Lost Canals. It is structurally the same as the Lost Canals, but with stronger enemies and an extra door to choose in each chamber.

The Shifting Altars of Uznair[edit]

Timeworn Gazelleskin Maps also have a chance to spawn a portal to enter The Shifting Altars of Uznair, altars hidden beneath the canals. Unlike previous instances, progression is done through a roulette wheel that offers different challenges and rewards.

The Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah[edit]

Each Timeworn Zonureskin Map you complete has a chance to spawn a portal to enter The Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah, filled with treasure by the Fuath. Similar to the Aquapolis and the Canals of Uznair.

The Shifting Oubliettes of Lyhe Ghiah[edit]

Timeworn Zonureskin Maps also have a chance to spawn a portal to enter The Shifting Oubliettes of Lyhe Ghiah, deeper into the dungeons beneath the castle. It features the same style of roulette as the Altars of Uznair.

The Excitatron 6000[edit]

Each Timeworn Kumbhiraskin Map you complete has a chance to spawn a portal to enter The Excitatron 6000, an attraction built by the Loporrits. Similar to the Aquapolis, the Canals of Uznair and the Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah.

The Shifting Gymnasion Agonon[edit]

Each Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Map you complete has a chance to spawn a portal to enter The Shifting Gymnasion Agonon, a testing ground for creations and familiars. It features the same style of roulette as the Altars of Uznair and the Oubliettes.
