A Realm Reborn[edit]

Level 1-15[edit]

Gridania
The player travels the their starting city of choice via carriage along with Alisaie and Alphinaud as well as an unnamed grizzled passenger. A Moogle shows up and tells the player the others can't see them before emptying the grizzled passenger's bottle and flying off.
While helping the people of Gridania the adventurer gets tasked with investigating a suspicious individual whose arrival coincides with an increase in Ixal activity. During this investigation the player encounters Yda and Papalymo, two scholars from Sharlayan. The trio fight together against frenzied spirits of nature at the scene of the investigation and afterwards the player character picks up a crystal of light inducing a vision from Hydaelyn.
The mysterious figure continues to appear and cause trouble for the Twelveswood even interrupting an important Rite of Returning. While being sent to dispatch the ominous shadow the adventurer is directly confronted by the masked mage who summons a clay golem to deal with the player. After defeating said golem Papalymo and Yda show up again as well, finally introducing themselves and explaining they are tasked with surveying the Twelveswood. In a vision the adventurer sees the duo investigating foliage, observing Ixal and discussing the effects the Calamity of five years prior has had on the Twelveswood.
Shortly afterwards the masked mage once again attempts to plunge the Twelveswood into chaos by ordering the Ixali to attack the Guardian Tree. The attack is foiled by the Wood Wailers aided by the player character but right after the Quivermen proceed to another area of battle leaving the WoL behind the ominous mage appears and summons a Lesser Gargoyle from the void to fight. Yda and Papalymo join the adventurer during the battle and the lesser gargoyle as well as the masked mage are defeated much to the latter's dismay of being brought low by 'mere mortals'. Papalymo reveals the mage to be an Ascian and the player character observes the body of the Ascian transform into a dark crystal and dissipate.
After helping the Gridanians to such an extent the Elder Seedseer Kan-E-Senna meets with the adventurer back at the Seat of the First Bow and invites them to be Emissary in an upcoming Ceremony. At the ceremony the Elder Seedseer tells the player they are reminiscent of the Warriors of Light with the power of the Echo. At this the player has a vision of the Battle of Cartenau with the three heads of the Grand Companies commanding their troops. Kan-E-Senna senses the dark presence of a masked figure standing in the distance watching them. The leaders decide to retreat and directly cover Archon Louisoix while the vision cuts to two black robed figures talking about the battle below them. The experience seems to make the adventurer black out to awaken again in an inn room in the Carline Canopy.
Following the ceremony the Elder Seedseer appoints the player to be her personal envoy and sends them off with missives for the other two leaders of the the Eorzean Alliance.

Level 15 - 20[edit]

After delivering missives to the leaders of the Eorzean Alliance and learning about the Calamity that happened five years prior the adventurer is recruited by the local adventerer's guilds to help. First in Limsa Lominsa, then Gridania and finally in Ul'dah. During the involvement in Ul'dah the player once again encounters the sharlayan scholar(s) they met previously who reveal to be members of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and invite the adventurer to join them. Upon returning to Momodi in the Quicksand she tells the player that the order's mission is to protect Eorzea's future. She tells you to head to the headquarters of the Scions in the Waking Sands in Vesper Bay to learn more.
Once at the Waking Sands the player meets Minfilia, the leader of the Scions and learns of the orders gravest concern, primals. She also explains the power of the Echo to the player, a power to transcend the boundaries of the soul to see visions of the past and hear minds. Minfilia also reveals to possess the Echo as well and she is certain the Echo is instrumental for dealing with the primal threat. Once again the player is implored to join the order and is even granted the knowledge of the pass code the scions use to identify each other, "wild-rose". Upon joining the other members introduce each other and Thancred explains how a shipment of crystals was recently stolen in transport and people have gone missing. These incidents give good reason to believe the Amalj'aa may be attempting to summon their primal, Ifrit. Minfilia wants the player to take on a leading role in the investigation and suggest talking to Thancred since he is the local expert.
During the investigation it becomes clear that the Amalj'aa are being aided by outsiders. First suspicions point toward someone from the church near Camp Drybone but further investigation give reason to believe someone is only posing as a member of the church. In order to find the location of the abducted people the adventurer partakes in a mission to capture an Amalj'aa using the discovered false priest as bait. The plan fails as the group is betrayed by one of their own and everyone is captured.
