In the below tutorials, we'll explain how our various templates work and what values you can input in order to create a page when using a template!

But first, a word about templates!

Basically, a template is a bunch of fields and values. Like a row in a database. All you have to do is fill in the blanks, and the template definition (a mess of fairly complex code, defined elsewhere) does all the formatting, categorization, and generally does all the work for you.

This makes basic page editing very simple. It also lets us make changes to the template definition that show up in all the pages that use it. The templates also include the magic that makes changes to say, Gridanian Shortbow show up on the lists of Archer weapons automatically.

Tutorial Hub[edit]

The majority of these template tutorials have an additional option included to create a page with the matching template for you to fill out to help make it easier for you!

Relative Difficulty[edit]

To make it easier for new editors to understand, a new difficulty rating system has been implemented for the template tutorials. Instead of an easy to hard rating system that would imply actual difficulty, a skill-based rating system was chosen (and inspired by phase 2 of E12S). As it is a new system, it will be prone to changes and updates! If you feel something should be changed, included, or removed, feel free to comment in the wiki channel on the official GE Discord :)

Basic[edit]

• Uploading images from pre-generated links (NPCs, Mobs, etc)
• Creating a page or subpage with a generic, easy-to-fill-out template

Basic templates are quick and simple to work with. Some may have their difficulty increased to Intermediate by way of requiring external research to fully complete them. A lot of the templates are included in this section!

Intermediate[edit]

• Modifying content on a page by adjusting templates included within
• Requiring more than one template for the page
• Requiring creation of a wikitable on the page
• Additional, external research for a page would also count as intermediate.

Advanced[edit]

• Going through several steps to access and/or complete the page
• Requires multiple templates and/or wikitables to be completed fully before it can be saved
• Requires creating redlinks or typing the name for the page in the address bar
• Requires in-depth knowledge of how to edit on the wiki

Template Ratings[edit]

	Basic	These subpages are generated by our trusty wikibot, but they need info! With some updated formatting to make it really clear, these pages have never been more simple to add to and fill out. Also includes instructions on how to upload your raw desynth data to a Google Form for one of our editors, Oniguro, to add it to the page if you don't want to!
	Basic	Very straightforward, and accidental inclusion of duplicate items won't break anything.
	Basic	All you need to be wary of is the order of weapons and tools when they have offhand counterparts! The naming scheme for gear set pages is explained on the tutorial as well.

	Basic	While the actual item page shouldn't be edited at all, the things related to the item template are pretty simple to access and edit!
	Basic Intermediate	Fairly basic. Adding the icons requires external research, jumping it to intermediate, but you are welcome to ask for help in the wiki channel on Discord for these icons.
	Basic Intermediate	Very easy to create the page and detail information. Adding the YouTube video links & track information requires external research, jumping it to intermediate, but it's not critical to include on initial page creation and can be left to someone else if you so choose.
	Basic Intermediate	Very easy to create the page. Fully filling it out properly can be difficult and somewhat time consuming.
	Basic Intermediate	While the majority of NPC pages are created by the wikibot, some NPCs need help, like FATE NPCs! Some of the things on the NPC tutorial like the images are quite easy to do, and a very basic NPC page with just the name some generic info is pretty simple to set up.
	Basic Advanced	Getting the page created with an image is especially helpful! Fully filling it out with species/genus information would rank it at advanced.
	Intermediate	Time consuming, and you need to know a lot about the different templates available to do it properly.
	Intermediate	Requires some legwork, along with knowledge of how Areas/Landmarks are named on the wiki if not the direct name.
	Intermediate	While all quests are created by the wikibot and should not be manually created', rarely they need some adjustments due to funky code or niche additions.
	Intermediate	Quite large and can require some external knowledge such as the Lodestone to get missing info. Also typically requires knowledge on creating a Zone page to go with the duty.
Fishing Holes (TBA)	Intermediate Advanced	Fishing hole pages are usually created by the wikibot, but sometimes a fishing hole needs to be manually created when it isn't included in the fishing log, like Diadem or Beast Tribe-specific fishing holes. Adding new fish to an existing hole is much simpler and would be rated at Intermediate due to the nature of the template.
MIN/BTN Gathering Nodes (TBA)	Intermediate Advanced	Setting up the template for gathering nodes can be rather complex, especially when it shares a name. Filling out information after the fact is much simpler and would be rated at Intermediate due to the nature of the template.
	Intermediate Advanced	Creation of the page is Advanced rated due to the sheer amount of steps to generate it properly. Actually filling it out is relatively easy, however since its not a comma-separated list i would still put it as at least intermediate to fill out.
	Advanced	Due to the required research to determine what is happening with a non-player action (single target, AoE-shape, etc), this is rated at advanced.
	Advanced	There's a lot of information you need to know and research required to be able to create one of these properly.
	Advanced	There's a lot of steps and external knowledge required to make these pages, including finding the correct hunt image on the wiki.
