Calamity Salvager[edit]

The 'Trades' template needs to be used. But on the note of the Calamity Salvager, I think that it should be left alone for now. There's definitely new things that they sell and trade for, but each one of them is already SO big and filled with info, that they're quite literally at capacity. The admins (usually Gahoo and Calandra) will need to brainstorm something to get them to work, because there's only a few items that can be added to them before our system will start refusing to add more because of the capacity issue.

If you want to see how Trades works, take a look at https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Talan?action=edit . You're more than welcome to try to add the Trades to the Calamity Salvager guys, but I think you're going to run into a problem :( That CSSells template is a temporary way of trying to fix them by stripping out some useless info, but even more needs to be done because they're THAT full of information, lol

Hidden Categories[edit]

If you want, you don't need to worry about red linked paged that need to be turned into Hidden Categories. Charitwo uses his bot once every few months and takes care of all of them within seconds, so it's usually better to leave that to him (unless the red text is blatantly obvious in the middle of the screen or anonying..) NPC bug[edit]

I have been trying to figure out what has caused this but no luck yet. I added a check which will remove the breaking code for when the NPC doesn't exist at all. It still breaks when an NPC exists but is not using the right template or doesn't have a location designated. So for now if you see that ugliness, if you can make sure that the NPC is using ARR Infobox NPC and add a location that would be best. Thanks! --Gahoo (talk) 12:02, 25 June 2015 (CDT)

Multi-item selling[edit]

We've been needing a template to do a better job of this for a while :( Unfortunately, one hasn't been made yet.. so for Talan, as you can see in that history link, I finally just added both items that he sells as two single purchases and hoped for the best with a small addition down in the 'Notes' section. For now, since we're still missing a bunch of everything on the wiki (quests, items, leves, npcs, other merchants, etc..) I would suggest doing something similar for now, and then in a while Gahoo or Calandra could take a look at making something better. Or you could hop into our IRC channel and see if Gahoo or Calandra might be able to whip something up, if they've got the time :) If you don't have something for IRC, you could try our IRC chat applet.

I definitely don't know DPL well enough either, to think of how this could be done. There's a small possibility that something like 'Category:Item-one-name AND Item-two-name Sold by Merchant' might work, with the dpl code using a #var (variable) in an #ifexist part to maybe detect it.. but that's just pure absolute guesswork on my part :(

Would it be possible to make a trade template that supports multiple results? Talan gives back two different ingredients when you trade in the NQ Lucis tokens, and now Seika upgrades the Law sword and shield at the same time.

Gnath vs. Vath[edit]

I wasn't really thinking about it but just following Lodestone/SE nomenclature here. Are they being inconsistent? I haven't actually started the Vath/Gnath quests and not sure who is what to be honest. --Gahoo (talk) 07:38, 28 February 2016 (CST)

Gnath is the race and Vath is the particular tribe that left the Onemind. It would be like having Ehcatl Nine Quests instead of Ixal Quests, or 789th Order Quests instead of Kobold Quests. -- Darthnemesis (talk) 14:15, 28 February 2016 (CST)
SE's classic inconsistency :\ In the game right now, the new beast tribe's quests (Vath) is listed as "Vath Quests", with subheadings "Main Quests" and "Daily Quests." Vanu is listed as "Vanu Vanu Quests". The old ones are "Amalj'aa Quests", "Sylph Quests", "Kobold Quests", "Sahagin Quests", and "Ixal Quests".. SE is the one being inconsistent with their naming schema :( We're forced to stick to what they've got! Maybe they'll change it to be correct (if someone asks them about it on twitter or the Official Forums), but until then I think we should leave it how it is in-game.
