  • Shallow Moor is watching you expectantly.
  • Acting as the facilitator for the guildship's odd job initiative, Shallow Moor hands you an explanatory missive from Momodi. The letter details a request from one of the sultana's personal attendants, asking you to travel to Thanalan. After confirming your assent, Shallow Moor contacts Momodi to arrange a meeting, and you find yourself scheduled to speak with one “Kokoshu” outside the Quicksand in Ul'dah.
  • Kokoshu quickly sets the record straight on who your true client is: the sultana, Nanamo Ul Namo. The lady-in-waiting tells you the tale of an unusual gate discovered in the damaged sections of the Sil'dihn aqueducts, and of Nanamo's desire to see it firsthand. Upon your agreement to help the sultana in this endeavor, Kokoshu cedes the meeting to Nanamo herself. Her Royal Majesty elaborates that the symbol on this portal matches the design of a key gifted to her by her parents, and she is adamant that they meant for her to explore whatever lies beyond. As for your part, Nanamo feels that you are her best choice of escort if she wishes to investigate unimpeded by overprotective guards. It seems she has arranged for you to enter the Sil'dihn ruins via the entrance in central Thanalan, whilst she arrives undetected through the palace's secret tunnels...
  • The curious-but-dutiful foreman directs you inside the ruins, where you are to rendezvous with Nanamo and her mysterious key. You know not what secrets or perils await you in the subterranean Sil'dihn tunnels, only that opening strange gates often leads to adventure...
※The Sil'dihn Subterrane can be accessed via the V&C Dungeon Finder.
※To open the V&C Dungeon Finder, speak with the Sil'dihn Subterrane foreman or select the option located under Duty in the main menu.
  • While undoubtedly successful, your expedition into the Sil'dihn Subterrane has raised more questions than it answered. Putting your whirling thoughts aside, you realize the foreman will wish to know that your “assignment” is concluded so that he and his laborers might return to work.
  • When you inform the foreman that the tunnels are his again, he passes on a message to you from Kokoshu. It seems that Nanamo's lady-in-waiting awaits you near the Quicksand once more.
  • You speak with Kokoshu─who is actually Nanamo in disguise─and she reflects upon the discoveries you made together during your recent adventure. Convinced that the Sil'dihn Subterrane yet holds far more places of interest to explore, the sultana bids you join her on another foray─when time permits, of course. For now, however, she must return to her usual affairs of state, and it is the real Kokoshu who arrives next to thank you profusely for your cooperation. The circle of gratitude, however, will not be complete until you convey the lady-in-waiting's warm regards to Shallow Moor back in Sharlayan...
  • Shallow Moor welcomes you back, seemingly pleased by Kokoshu's sincere appreciation. She encourages you to share your adventure with Osmon, but you wonder if after a single expedition you can call this odd job truly finished. As Nanamo has said, there is likely a great deal more inside the Sil'dihn Subterrane, just waiting to be discovered...

So, Forename, does this mean you've found a spare moment in your busy god-slaying agenda?

Wonderful. We actually have a letter addressed to you from Mistress Momodi. Go ahead and read through that, and I'll dig up the linkpearl I'm to use to convey your reply.

Dear Forename, I hope this letter finds you well and still taking guild jobs, because we've got one here with your name on it.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't bother you with something like this, but the client is a personal attendant to Her Royal Majesty Nanamo Ul Namo. And I'm guessing that piqued your curiosity as much as it did mine.

Let Shallow Moor know if you can make it over to Ul'dah, and I'll set up a meeting with this lady-in-waiting. I'm told it's nothing urgent, so at your earliest convenience!

Momodi.
What are we thinking? Yea or nay?
What will you say?
Tell Momodi I'm on my way. One does not simply refuse Mistress Momodi.
Understood! I'll call her right away.
Hah! I'll take that as assent, then. Let me make the call...

And done! Our tiny taskmaster is making arrangements as we speak.

She says the lady you're to meet is a Lalafell by the name of Kokoshu. Light-brown hair, green eyes.

She should be awaiting you outside the Quicksand by the time you arrive. Fair fortune and safe travels!

Player7 Icon.png Cutscene start.

Master Surname, I presume? I am Kokoshu.

But let us be clear from the outset: I am not your true client.

The personage who wishes to engage your services is the sultana, Nanamo Ul Namo herself.

Firstly, however, pray allow me to explain the request itself. Then you can decide whether or not you wish to proceed.

I trust you recall the tunnels beneath the city of Ul'dah?

I speak of course of the Sil'dihn Subterrane─the passages and waterways through which you made your escape on the day of that ill-fated victory banquet.

It seems that one of the tunnel sections collapsed during the commotion, and a crew comprised primarily of Immortal Flames has since been put to work on repairs.

In the process of restoring the masonry, however, they have come across an unexpected gate...

It was described as antique in design, inscrutable in purpose, and sealed shut by some mystical force. The report appeared of great interest to the sultana, and she has expressed a desire to investigate this strange portal firsthand.

Furthermore, she feels that Master Tarupin and the like are “overprotective” and will prevent her from exploring to her heart's content. But are we then to send Her Royal Majesty into potential peril without a trusted escort? You see my dilemma.

As the proven champion of Eorzea and veteran of countless heroic endeavors, it is to you whom we would entrust the sultana's safety. Besides which, she would have it no other way.
What will you say?
Her Majesty's wish is my command! I'm not sure about this, but if that's what the sultana wants...
Thank you, Master Surname─it will mean a great deal to Her Majesty. Please wait here, and I shall inform the sultana of your decision.
Forename, thank you for coming. I greatly appreciate you indulging this selfish request of mine.

I should hope for the sake of your adventurous spirit, however, that the mystery at hand proves more intriguing than odious.

Kokoshu spoke broadly of what to expect, yes? Then allow me to add a few details to the story.

According to the report, the gate bears an intricate, flowery design. The Flames were unable to ascertain its origin or significance, but I have seen such a motif before...

The very same design adorns a key in my possession─the last gift I was ever to receive from my dear departed parents.

I recall the ceremony with which it was presented, and their promises to take me to the place the key unlocked once I had come of age.

They spoke excitedly of the choices I might make, of the things I would behold on my chosen path...but they were called away to Thal's halls long before that day would arrive.

With Mother and Father gone, I despaired of ever learning the key's purpose. And now this portal is found...

Surely you understand why I cannot leave it unopened?
What will you say?
There could be anything behind that gate! There could be anything behind that gate...
You see! I knew I could count on your enthusiasm!
How reassuring it will be to have a veteran adventurer at my side. Not that I distrust Papashan or Pipin, of course, but if I told them, they would only seek to dissuade me from my course.
Indeed. But Mother and Father meant for me to see it, and that is what I intend to do.
Still, neither Papashan nor Pipin would approve of my plans to investigate in person. I needed someone else I trust, but who trusted my judgment in turn. Will you be that person for me?

As for Kokoshu, she was the first I brought into my confidence.

She is, after all, my lady-in-waiting, and serves as my double when I am away. I hadn't wished to involve anyone else, but she flatly refused to cooperate unless I enlisted a reliable escort.

Thus here we stand! And though I regret the need to have you complicit in my subterfuge, the idea of exploring with you has me giddy with anticipation!

If you could make your way directly to the excavation site in central Thanalan, the foreman there has been instructed to permit you entrance.

Considering the tunnels reach all the way to the palace, security protocols dictate that we receive reports any time someone enters the ruins. I will take that as my signal to join you─via the secret passages, of course.

Now, let us make our preparations. We should, as you say, be ready for anything!
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene end.

Master Surname. Lady Kokoshu says you are to have unrestricted access to the ruins for some manner of “confidential assignment.”

I wonder, does this have anything to do with what they found in that collapsed section, or...?

Uh, actually, never mind that. I'm not meant to ask any questions.

Ahem. The rubble's been mostly cleared away, but please, do watch your footing down there. Wouldn't want you tripping over a loose rock in the gloom!

-unlock- -unlock-

Three more gates...? 'Twould seem we have a choice to make.

Do your instincts pull you one way over another? If I were to listen to mine...

I find myself drawn to this one...
Nanamo's Gate Another Gate
Oh, we've picked the same gate! That settles that, then!
Onward we go!
Hm, why that one...?

Very well. The adventurer knows best!

Who knows what we shall find!

These creatures look distinctly unfriendly. If you would be so kind...?

Barely a test of your mettle, I see. Well done!

We can walk through this pipe, I think.

Some manner of rodent? Surely even I can best a couple of mice...

Gah! Not mice, not mice, definitely not mice!

Gods. My poor heart.

Strange to think these giant pipes lie unseen, just yalms beneath the streets of Ul'dah...

All yours, Forename!

That culvert at the back is positively clogged.

Would more water flush out the mud, I wonder?

These waterways are in dire need of maintenance. I must arrange something with the palace custodians.

A hecatoncheir!?
Why would it make its lair in this muddy pit?

What is that noise?
Something coming down the drainage pipes?

Is he playing games...? Mind the barrel tops—there must be a reason for those markings.

Oh, that redirected the water flow! 'Tis the first I've seen such a mechanism at work!

Where do you suppose that water went to...?

Why would a hecatoncheir be down here!?
It seems disinclined to let us pass peacefully...

Is he playing games...? Mind the barrel tops—there must be a reason for those markings.

What is that noise?
Something coming down the drainage pipes?

And victory is yours! I am blessed to keep company with such a formidable ally.

The path leads on...

All this greenery makes for a nice change. And look: have you ever seen fruits like these!?

The fruit must have drawn then here...

Ah, that breeze feels wonderful after the stuffy closeness of the tunnels.

Our respite was short-lived, I see.

A challenge around every corner!

Bother. My key was not made to open this gate. ...Hm? It says here, "Two eyes are needed to see."

Two eyes... Some manner of riddle, do you suppose?

"Two eyes."

Is it...metaphorical?

Oh! This was no simple pattern on the floor! It was a teleportation portal!

Let's see where it leads, shall we?

Where have we come to...?

Golems! And blocking the path we mean to take, no less.

They'll not let us pass without a fight...

Who would have abandoned their cleaning gear in here?

...And why do I feel I've seen these particular brushes before?

This rug, too, seems a relatively recent addition. See how the stone beneath it is cracked and worn?

'Tis doubtful some thief had a sudden fit of decorating...but we shall leave it for now. Other mysteries abound.

I know this creature! This is the silkie─a familiar which cleaned the palace, once upon a time.

Strange. Its aether feels awfully, well, familiar, if you would pardon the pun.

You see that bubble around its puff? That must be how it channels its cleaning magicks!

Ware the deluge of water! You will be washed away for sure!

The silkie's aether...
It had the exact same feel as Mother's.

What have we here...?"

Such a beautiful garden! Not the sort of place one expects to find at the end of a grimy tunnel.

And I see we have more out-of-place furniture. Wait...could this also be Mother's doing?

My parents had a haven they escaped to when they wished to be alone. And I believe we've just found it.

Is this the reason they gifted me the key? Was this what I was supposed to see?

Nay, as lovely as this secluded sanctuary is, I suspect the gesture held greater significance...

<sigh> Whilst I should like to linger still, I fear Papashan will soon note my absence. Let us be away.

'Twould seem you discovered the custodian's closet...

Have you heard the Ul'dahn folktale of the magicked ewer?

'Tis said that it could scoop up any amount of water at once, and was locked away after it drained an entire oasis.

Talk of jugs behind barred doors reminded me of the legend, is all. Shall we continue on?

I know this creature! This is the silkie─a familiar which cleaned the palace, once upon a time.

Strange. Its aether feels awfully, well, familiar, if you would pardon the pun.

You see that bubble around its puff? That must be how it channels its cleaning magicks!

That jug... 'Tis not possible!

The puffs are lathered with soap now...
I fear they mean business!

That final burst of aether confirmed my suspicions: 'twas definitely Mother who created the silkie.

What have we here...?

Such a beautiful garden! Not the sort of place one expects to find at the end of a grimy tunnel.

And this tableware...

These things belonged to Mother and Father!

This must have been their quiet little retreat; the familiar put in place to protect it.

I should have liked to come here with them, but 'tis comforting to feel the echo of their presence, nonetheless.

<sigh> Whilst I should like to linger still, I fear Papashan will soon note my absence. Let us be away.

Aha! That seemed to do the trick...though the riddle itself confounds me. A puzzle for another day.

Still more?
Every ilm of this place is infested!

Such fluffy, puffy flowers...

I know this creature! This is the silkie—a familiar which cleaned the palace, once upon a time.

Strange. Its aether feels awfully, well, familiar, if you would pardon the pun.

You see that bubble around its puff? That must be how it channels its cleaning magicks!

All those puffs in a row...
You best be on your toes!

The puffs are lathered with soap now...
I fear they mean business!

The silkie's aether...
It had the exact same feel as Mother's.

My, what a beautiful garden! See how the sunlight falls upon the flowers just so.

Mother must have wanted to protect this place. Why else set the silkie to guard it?

I imagine her coming here with Father, to simply sit and enjoy the tranquillity.

A shelf full of cutlery, and a table made for two... This is a haven of joyful memories.

Mother. Father. I will do all in my power to see this sanctuary remains unspoiled.

<sigh> Whilst I should like to linger still, I fear Papashan will soon note my absence. Let us be away.
A Key Memory (Note #4) is added to the Sil'dih Survey Record

Is...is this a battle, or a spot of spring cleaning?

The puffs are lathered with soap now...
I fear they mean business!

The silkie's aether...
It had the exact same feel as Mother's.

My, what a picturesque scene! See how the sunlight falls upon the flowers just so.

I wonder, could this be the sanctuary of which my parents spoke?

They told me of a private place to which they would slip away; a haven from the bustle of palace life.

Mother always called it their “secret garden.”

And assuming that giant mouse─the silkie─was hers, then I imagine it was here to protect their special spot.

Finding this place must have been the reason Father gave me the key. One reason, at least.

<sigh> Whilst I should like to linger still, I fear Papashan will soon note my absence. Let us be away.

'Tis to be expected the aqueducts would have their share of vermin. If you might play the role of exterminator...

And in mere moments, the way is clear! Hardly an inconvenience for our mighty champion.

Have we reached a dead end?

Sure you do not expect me to cross that rickety thing! Slowly, then...and no rocking the bridge!

S-Steady now...

Do not bound or jounce!

Waaah!

I specifically requested no rocking, bouncing, or jouncing! Gods above, I was almost pitched over the side...

More pests to deal with!

Courage, Nanamo!
Quick steps!

That gate looks awfully heavy. Let us try the handle, and hope these gears and chains do most of the lifting.

Oh, it opened!
I was worried it may have been rusted shut.

We must be deep in the heart of the aqueducts...

Is that a hecatoncheir!?

And what are those in the walls? Windmills?

Is that a hecatoncheir!?

And those rollers... Some form of conveyance?

Is he playing games...? Mind the barrel tops—there must be a reason for those markings.

Careful, Forename!
That machinery is still in working order!

The size of your opponent matters not, it seems! A reassuring thought as we delve deeper into the unknown!

Not that way.

The debris is impassible.

We've wandered into some antique dining hall.
A rich setting, indeed; one might even say "palatial."

Quite an expansive abode.
Shall we try upstairs?

Of course, this is the Sil'dihn royal palace!
Look at this banner by the door here...

Snakes!?

Why must it be snakes...?

I am put in mind of mine own chambers, secret passageways and all. I wonder...

Of course, this is the Sil'dihn royal palace!
Look at this banner by the door here...

What did I do!?

Did we trip the defenses!?

And there is the throne of Sil'dih! How fortunate we are to have made such an historic discovery!

The sentinels still guard their post...

Remarkable.
'Tis still in pristine condition...

Ah... I've seem such contrivances before.
We must balance the scales ere we proceed.

Simply a matter of selecting the correct weights! Surely you recognize one or two of these symbols, yes?

Aha! That lit up the teleporter!
Come along─nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The royal treasury! A puzzle solved leading to riches untold... Just like in the stories!

But look at these scattered coins...
Has a burglar broken in before us, perchance?

Ah, so there are guards...
Scrawled Note
A slip of parchment lies abandoned on the ground.

The notes of an aspiring burglar, perhaps...?

rare green stone
Malachite Portico green and yellow sacks
atop the rubble corner mound of earth?

The barrier fades!
'Twould seem your prayers were answered.

Whatever shall we find next?

That grape-embossed helm...

'Tis the mark of a Sil'dihn-forged gladiator!
Haaargh... Haaaaaargh!
He seems awfully...wrathful.
Gather...the host...

On your guard, Forename! He builds his rage again!

A dreadful sentry and a dead end chamber...
I suspect this was a trap for overly ambitious thieves.

From what we saw, there did seem to be a burglar afoot. I wonder who they were or what became of them...

Oh, and best forget laying claim to that trove yourself─we've come to unearth history's secrets, not plunder them!

Shall we call it a day here, then? I believe we've come as far as we can down this particular path.

Let us rendezvous back in Ul'dah, where I would thank you properly for your untiring escort!

My Mother's Eyes (Note #10) is added to the Sil'dih Survey Record

The door is open, but not so the way. Mayhap salvation lies with Nald or Thal...?

I would not have believed anyone could topple that silver-skinned brute had I not seen it with mine own eyes!

There are no other exits that I can spy...
I suspect this chamber was a dead end for cornering thieves.

Fatal for a common intruder, mayhap, but thanks to you, I was treated to a rare glimpse into the life of Sil'dihn royalty.

I must consider that such was Mother and Father's intent─to ensure that our fallen sister state not be forgotten.

'Tis my duty as sultana to remember our realm's history. And in doing so, protect the legacy of the living and the dead.

Shall we call it a day here, then? There is little left to explore down this particular path.

Let us rendezvous back in Ul'dah, where I would thank you properly for your untiring escort!
The Thorne Legacy (Note #11) is added to the Sil'dih Survey Record

Aaah! W-Was that not the right answer!?

Well, right or wrong, the door lies open!

That gap is rather wide... Baring some unlikely acrobatics on my part, I am afraid we are at an impasse.

Oh, but what of these levers? Their position seems highly suggestive of their relation to yon yawning pit.

Gracious! Would they haul the boulder up the ramp every time...? Still, I must say it makes for a stable bridge!

That grape-embossed helm...

'Tis the mark of a Sil'dihn-forged gladiator!
Haaargh... Haaaaaargh!

Watch out! They had more boulders up there!
Slaughter...the foe...

Judging by the sentinels we've encountered, 'tis clear Sil'dih's military was a force to be reckoned with.

They were said to boast many skilled warriors, and the helm on their flag represented their philosophy of martial might.

Yet their nation was buried 'neath the sands, all the same. Such irony that it be uncovered by a sultana of Ul'dah...

How undignified! I shall be seeking out an alternative route for the return trip!

Ul'dah and Sil'dih (Note #8) is added to the Sil'dih Survey Record

What a stench...
I shall have to burn these clothes.

Nald preserve me from creepers and crawlers.
Pray clear the path, Forename.

What do they feed on down here? Each other? And why must it smell so positively putrid?

Careful!
That big one looks nasty! --- Even empty of pests, this place is a dank, mold-ridden nightmare. How long has it lain untended?

Ugh! Pfbt! Thome of id fell in by bouth...
Is adventuring always this disgusting!?

I should rather not traverse a fungal bridge, but I suppose if we hurry across...

Is there no end to this foul menagerie!?

The decay is especially bad in this section. I fear the fungal growth is all which keeps it from collapsing.

Nay, this rot cannot be allowed to continue. The tunnels need reinforcement, not to mention a thorough cleaning...

Ugh, the reek of sewage is overpowering!

Does this hecatoncheir have no sense of smell!?

Gah! You see!? Even the water is some ghastly shade of...wait. Is that ceruleum?

Best give that a wide berth...

'Tis all in such a sorry state of disrepair.

That bluish film atop the water is ceruleum!
But that hardly explains the hecatoncheir in the room...

Watch your footing!
'Tis coming up through the floor!

Is he playing games...? Mind the barrel tops—there must be a reason for those markings.

If you can best a hecatoncheir so handily, then it certainly bodes well for the remainder of our expedition.!

To think that such a cavernous hollow yawns directly beneath Ul'dah!

Raising one of these lifts should provide us passage across. Assuming, of course, that the winch yet functions...

Interesting. The lift appears of Ul'dahn design, albeit an old one, but everything else screams "Amalj'aa."

Did those rolling boulders just sprout legs!?

Yes, most definitely Amalj'aa construction. Fortifications built for war, rather than habitation, I would say.

After you. I've an aversion to needles.

Could this camp be from the time of the zombie purge? Was father hoping I would see this one day...?

Did you know that Ul'dah and Amalj'aa once fought side by side? 'Tis not common knowledge.

A door of solid iron—and no sign my key will open it.
Do you see any handy levers or the like...?

Foreboding Door
A message is engraved in the common tongue...

In the beginning, the Lord of the Inferno shared with us His flame.

Speak the name of the gift He bestowed upon our bloodline.

Unbeliever... You will proceed no further. Begone from this place.

Who is speaking!? Well, I've not come this far to let a door turn me away. Break it down!

Impressive! 'Tis akin to having my own battering ram!

Disembodied voices, dimly lit staircases...
It has the feel of a haunted crypt.

Is this... a tomb?

I am vigilance unceasing... A final death unto the zombie horde!
Zombie horde? Could this warrior have endured since the Thorne Dynasty...? But that was centuries ago!

Winds carry you to fiery doom!

My wards will incinerate your undead flesh!

Confuse and bemuse!

Trespassers perish!

Rest eternal in my shadow!

Confuse, bemuse, and confound!

And still you shamble on! How hot must the fires burn to undo your foul animation!?

My heart weeps that we must fell such a fierce ally of Ul'dah...

A tragic end to a valiant warrior. He at least seemed unaware of his...affliction.

Still, I must wonder how long this fallen hero slumbered here in cursed undeath. Trapped alone in this forgotten tomb...

Though we worship different gods, I shall offer up a prayer for his peaceful repose all the same.

Shall we make our return, then, Forename? There seems to be little reason to linger here.

We've uncovered much and more—plenty enough to occupy my thoughts for the time being. You have my thanks!

In Father's Stead (Note #5) is added to the Sil'dih Survey Record

Impressive! A lifetime of adventure teaches one more than just battlecraft, I see.

'Tis so stately and subdued in here...

And yet so abhorrent was the zombie curse, even a hero of his obvious stature was sealed behind an iron door.

If only that powder had never been concocted... Heavy do I feel the burden of my ancestors' sins this day.

Yes, most definitely Amalj'aa construction. Fortifications built for war, rather than habitation, I would say.

Drakes! Just like the ones the Amalj'aa tame! Is it me, or are some of these creatures awfully large...?

You've triggered some spell of opening! I wonder why they chose to conceal this passage...

Oh, I see! This must be where they stored their ritual materials.

Wraiths and revenants, oh my!

These are precious relics, every one. Think you they might be blessed or enchanted in some fashion?

These are precious relics, every one. Think you they might be blessed or enchanted in some fashion?

A storage room for ceremonial objects suggests a ceremonial chamber is nearby...

Ah...
An Amalj'aa coffin, if I am not mistaken.

A tragic end to a valiant warrior. He at least seemed unaware of his...affliction.

What cruel irony that a hero of the zombie purge would become the very thing he sought to vanquish.

And how many of his kin shared his fate? I would lay them all to rest in the manner of their people...

While it may not be the Amalj'aa way, I shall at least offer a prayer of peaceful repose for this tortured soul.

Shall we make our return, then, Forename? There seems little reason to linger here.

You are performing the funerary rites? Then I should light the incense, and say a prayer for the fallen.

Another secret passage!?
This place certainly is full of surprises.

Let us take a peek, shall we?
DrAw YoUr WeApOn Of ChOiCe, AnD fAcE mE fAiR aNd SqUaRe!

Who built this oversized mammet!?
And why, oh why does it have those Amalj'aa limbs!?

How is this fair!?

It has an entire bank of artillery at its command!

Its arms! They switched sides!
What a dirty trick...

Hah! Take that, you four-armed hunk of automaton junk. You fought splendidly, Forename!

Ul'dahn and Amalj'aa banners, hanging side by side...
What have we stumbled into this time?

This book appears to be a catalog of some kind.
Oh! These items are all proof of the past alliance!

And what is this wedged in its pages...?
May the reader of this letter be our darling Nanamo.

If this message is for me, then why leave it here!? My parents had such faith that I would find it...

Nay...'tis the vault itself they wished for me to discover. And these priceless truths preserved within.

Come, let us return to Ul'dah, where I can thank you properly for your most invaluable escort!

Is this...a tomb?

I am vigilance unceasing...

A final death unto the zombie horde!
Zombie horde? Could this warrior have endured since the Thorne Dynasty...? But that was centuries ago!

My wards will incinerate your undead flesh!

Confuse and bemuse!

Trespassers perish!

Confuse, bemuse, and confound!

Rest eternal in my shadow!

And yet so abhorrent was the zombie curse, even a hero of his obvious stature was sealed behind an iron door.

If only that powder had never been concocted... Heavy do I feel the burden of my ancestors' sins this day.

Shall we make our return, then, Forename? There seems little reason to linger here.

We've uncovered much and more─plenty enough to occupy my thoughts for the time being. You have my thanks!

In the beginning, the Lord of the Inferno shared with us His flame.

Speak the name of the gift He bestowed upon our bloodline.

Unbeliever... You will proceed no further. Begone from this place.

Who is speaking!? Well, I've not come this far to let a door turn me away. Break it down!

Impressive! 'Tis akin to having my own battering ram!

Disembodied voices, dimly lit staircases...
It has the feel of a haunted crypt.

Still, I must wonder how long this fallen hero slumbered here in cursed undeath. Trapped alone in this forgotten tomb...

Though we worship different gods, I shall offer up a prayer for his peaceful repose all the same.

Impressive! A lifetime of adventure teaches one more than just battlecraft, I see.

Master Surname. All done with your, uh, “assignment,” then?

Glad to hear it. I'll inform the workers that they're free to head back into the tunnels.

Oh, and before I forget!

I have a message for you from Lady Kokoshu: she wishes to meet you by the Quicksand upon your return to Ul'dah. Safe travels, sir.
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene start.
Welcome back, Master Surname.

...As Kokoshu might say. 'Tis I, Nanamo! Did I fool you?

My lady-in-waiting yet plays the role of sultana, but we reasoned it odd if “Kokoshu” were to enter my chambers and never emerge.

Thus the disguise. It also affords me a way to speak with you without the usual royal fanfare.

As for our expedition, that was...rather more taxing than I had anticipated. What I had planned as a simple sating of curiosity has given me much to consider.

I thought I had come to terms with the loss of my parents; that I was content with the few faint memories I had.

Yet walking into that beautiful secluded garden, and seeing the traces of themselves they left behind... It forced me to acknowledge the grief I hid away as a child, and carry locked within my heart even now.

Few are aware of Ul'dah's historic alliance with the Amalj'aa. The fortifications we saw are undoubtedly remnants from that period of cooperation─a chapter of our past that has long been kept from the light of day.

I've been afforded a tangible glimpse into how things once stood between us. And as we continue our struggle to repair ties with the tribes, I am encouraged that they will one day be so harmonious again.

Ul'dah was built upon sacrifice─Sil'dihn sacrifice. To know this is one thing, but to actually walk through the decaying ruins of a palace is another.

The victors should not seek to bury the price of victory alongside the bodies of the fallen. I feel that Father, wise sultan that he was, wished for me to learn this lesson.

I had not, for instance, dreamed our path would lead to a hidden vault─much less one maintained by a succession of sultans.

I imagine the appointment of this secret trust would have accompanied one's ascension to the throne, but my father's passing was...sudden. He likely only had opportunity to leave a short letter in the vault, and then bequeath me the key in the hopes that I would find it.

And now I have. Even across the years, the faded parchment conveys their love, and I will honor their memory as daughter and sultana both.

As for the vault itself, the priority must be to catalog and preserve its contents. You deserve to share in the results of that inspection, thus I will contact you through Kokoshu when I have grasped the extent of our discovery.

Yet walking into that beautiful secluded garden, and seeing the traces of themselves they left behind... It forced me to acknowledge the grief I hid away as a child, and carry locked within my heart even now.

Such revelations aside, I cannot help but dwell upon the fuss which Mother and Father made of the choices I would make, and the paths I would take... Other places of import yet lurk behind those portals, of that I am certain.

Yes, I should very much like to conduct a more thorough exploration─when time and circumstance permit, of course. Aid me in mapping out this underground enigma, and you will find me a very grateful sultana!

In this very moment, however, there are several dreary affairs of state which demand my attention. I believe Kokoshu wishes a word before you depart, so pray abide here a while, if you would.

Keep well, Forename, and we shall meet again soon.
Welcome back, Master Surname. Ah, lest you wonder, I promise I am the real Kokoshu this time.

And I am Kilfufu, Kokoshu's assistant and fellow trusted confidant. A pleasure to make your acquaintance.

As part of Her Majesty's, uh, “inner circle,” I simply had to come along to offer my thanks in person.
Yes, we are most grateful for your steadfast presence.
I worried what would happen when the sultana first laid out her rather reckless plan, yet she has returned to us not only unharmed, but invigorated.
For the sake of Her Majesty's well-being─and our continued peace of mind─we hope that you will agree to further forays at her side.
We were also informed by Mistress Momodi that the gleaners' guildship was instrumental in facilitating our request.
When next you visit Sharlayan, please do pass on our warmest regards to Shallow Moor.
Player7 Icon.png Cutscene end.
Considering your tendency to range beyond the reach of ordinary mortals, I was not at all certain that our request would reach you. We do appreciate Shallow Moor's zeal in tracking you down!
I've heard that Kokoshu is actually Her Majesty's cousin. That certainly would explain their similar features...

All finished with the job, then, Forename? Mistress Momodi called to thank us, and let us know that you'd arrived in Ul'dah.

So, the little lady-in-waiting sends her regards as well, does she? They sure know how to make a girl feel appreciated!

Oh, I should probably give you a nudge in Osmon's direction; he's been scanning the crowd every few moments, hoping you'd be back to regale him with the tale of your odd job adventure.

If you've the time, I'm sure he'd be thrilled with any scrap of story you care to share!
