Hey there![edit]

Just a quick question for you :) First, awesome work with your fishing log additions to the site, they're very much appreciated! Great idea using the HQ Icon.png line to add that symbol in for the Mooching status. My question is this: Do you think that in future, when adding more, that you could add a . immediately after the HQ Icon.png ? There appears to be some kind of a bug (or 'feature' as I'm sure the mediawiki devs would call it) with the wiki software, that has issues when 3 or more }'s are used. As you might've noticed, on the main Fishing Log page where the Bait section is (as you can see on this screenshot I took of one fish, Putting a period after the HQ}} and before the second set of }}'s that closes the Fishing fixes that issue. If a period doesn't look right (and sometimes I don't think it does), then a simple space will work too (as seen on the code for Alligator Garfish). Thanks for all your hard work! Hezkezl (talk) 12:12, 26 January 2014 (CST)

  • Sure, will do. I've noticed the bug too, but it didn't look like something I could fix myself at the time. --Seedling 13:51, 2 February 2014 (CST)
    • Awesome :D Yeah, that bug is still around unfortunately... We're just cheating and trying to avoid having it pop up in the first place! xD Thanks again for all your work! Hezkezl (talk) 14:06, 2 February 2014 (CST)

Hi there again :D[edit]

Just wanted to pop in and tell you that we updated the Desynth template since you first started using it :) The format is now as follows:

| Desynth Recipe = {{ARR Infobox Desynth
|Item =
|Primary Skill =
|Result 1 =
|Result 1 Amount =
|Result 2 =
|Result 2 Amount =
|Result 3 =
|Result 3 Amount =
|Result 4 =
|Result 4 Amount =
|Result 5 =
|Result 5 Amount =
|Result 6 =
|Result 6 Amount =

So for fish, you'd want it to be:

| Desynth Recipe = {{ARR Infobox Desynth
|Item            = {{subst:PAGENAME}}
|Primary Skill = Culinarian
|Result 1 = Fine Sand
|Result 1 Amount = 1
|Result 2 = Water Shard
|Result 2 Amount = 1-2

etc.. The amount can be just 1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-5, whatever :D But we moved away from just 'Desynth = Yes/No' and 'Desynth Items'..

Thanks for your work on all the seafood! Hezkezl (talk) 16:47, 29 July 2014 (CDT)

  • Oh, nice. I'll start using this then. Was just adding new fish desynths :D --Seedling 16:58, 29 July 2014 (CDT)
    • Keep up the good work :D I've been adding some in when I can.. Do you know about the website btw? It's pretty damn awesome when it comes to fishing info.. o.O I wish I could make a copy of their site, it's pretty bitchin' Hezkezl (talk) 01:19, 5 August 2014 (CDT)
      • Didn't know about that site. Will see if it's indeed bitchin' :D --Seedling 12:21, 5 August 2014 (CDT)
        • (New Edit) Sorry about editing this page, making it 'ping' you that someone's trying to get your attention! Just wanted to update the listed recipe above with how we're using it now.. had someone message me the other day about the desynth recipe being listed on here and how they should use it, except we're using it slightly differently now soooo... yea.. >.> Please ignore this talk message! <3 Hezkezl (talk) 12:41, 16 September 2015 (CDT)

I edited your User page[edit]

Had to make a small edit to your user page. Because you were using the 'Drops' Template, it was adding your "User:Seedling" page as a 'mob' that dropped the fish that you've added to it. So, by replacing it with 'DropsNocat', there's no categorizing done and it'll still do the % calculating for you! :D Feel free to use that one in the future! Hezkezl (talk) 01:19, 5 August 2014 (CDT)

  • Yeah, I noticed the missing categories pop up in the category list below. Was gonna ask if a nocat template had been made yet or I should make one, as I didn't see one in the template list, but it was a bit late so I forgot. Checked DropRate2 but it also had the categories. --Seedling 12:18, 5 August 2014 (CDT)

Sells2 template[edit]

Gahoo and I both changed Trades2/Sells2, though it was largely him doing the hard work. The templates that have a 2 in them are usually used for testing proposed changes before pushing them to the 'live' template (live template, aka the normal Sells or Trades templates, since they're the ones actually in use by items.) Since you went and added Quantity to Sells2, rather than make a new testing template we just went ahead and just pushed that to the live Template, after Gahoo made a couple modifications to allow for Quantity showing on all vendors. As you say, the best solution would be to somehow have the small html code and an x for quantity, but that would involve a lot more work than what was done.

Basically, your fix was some good testing work :P Was decided after seeing them to just push them to the normal vendor template, since some vendors (GC Quartermasters, Beast Tribe Vendors off the top of my head) do sell things using different quantities, so it seemed a good idea after seeing your work to push it to the main template :D Hezkezl (talk) 13:58, 28 October 2014 (CDT)

Fixed your addition of the Poetics voucher[edit]

Sells template is a bit of a pain to update with currency :( That's why we try to use the Trades one instead. But, knowing the templates used when adding new currency helps! The three are: Template:Sells (obviously), Template:Sells price dpl‎ and Template:Sells price dpl nocat‎. The Sells price dpl one is used to show on an item where it comes from, ie: Rowena's Token (Poetics). The price dpl nocat is also part of that. So as you can see, three templates to update to add one item is a pain :( With the Trades template, it'll automatically do all of that for us! Hezkezl (talk) 13:46, 29 October 2014 (CDT)

  • Hmm... that is indeed a pain... perhaps remove those so the Sells templates ONLY contain actual currencies? (Gil, Seals, Tomestones, Wolf Marks) This page shows that there are only a few pages left that use the Sells template where Trades should be used, so if we fix those up, the Sells templates can be sanatized. --Seedling 18:15, 29 October 2014 (CDT)
    • We probably should do that at some point, I think it's largely just a general feeling like: "it works now, let's not break it and do other stuff in the mean time" :P Hezkezl (talk) 19:13, 29 October 2014 (CDT)
      • Ugh... now you just encouraged me to fix it... I'll start with the categories. And then add some proper noinclude documentation so people don't go altering the Sells template to add new items :P --Seedling 04:51, 30 October 2014 (CDT)
      • Made a cleaned up version in Template:Sells2. Biggest changes : added documentation, removed non-currencies, removed 2nd currency (only used in Trades). If it looks good to you, I'll make the changes to the other two templates to match Sells. No documentation for them though, they are dpl templates and dpl doesn't need it :D --Seedling 11:48, 30 October 2014 (CDT)

Coil charts[edit]

Updated. The loot table just needed null edits on each item for some reason. The charts come from a google chart back-end that I needed to edit. The drop lists next to the charts are burried in a mediawiki page named after the mob. PITA for sure. Let me know if others are messed-up. I will need to add final coil, but not sure of drops yet. --Gahoo (talk) 07:52, 1 November 2014 (CDT)

Ganibot Edits[edit]

Hey Seedling - nothing is intended to be deleted, but there are some kinks we will work through. The goal here is to be able to bot edit and add new items quickly, and then follow-up with manual edits where needed. This was the first test, which we knew wouldn't be 100% perfect, but we were able to get a ton of information added to these new items which was missing. We'll be tweaking the bot and will try to address all of these quirks. In the meantime feel free to revise the mistakes or even just keep a list of them on a talk page somewhere. Thanks! --Gahoo (talk) 19:19, 15 September 2015 (CDT)

Item Template Testing[edit]

In the future, can you please use Template:ARR Infobox Item2 when testing adding new things? :D Doing it to the default template breaks every single item we have, if something goes wrong.. Just change 1 item (guessing you're working on Seafood/fish) to use Item2, save it, and mess around with that fish, or just use Item2 and use 'Preview' on that item.. For smaller templates it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but we have a ton of items and sometimes it takes a while for the site to catch up on editing if you break one thing >.>

Just edit ARR Infobox Item, ctrl+A and ctrl+C to copy all the code and then save it over on Item2 (which I've done for you just now). When you get done and have things working on Item2, just ctrl+A/ctrl+C back to Item :D Hezkezl (talk) 09:23, 4 October 2015 (CDT)

  • Yeah, I thought I could do it without making a mistake... which was a mistake...
  • I'm trying to clean up the looks of seafood, so that it won't display the item level bar as if it's an equipment item (as it doesn't do that ingame). It should show the recommended level on the right side for DoL items now, although some of the HW fish still need to be filled properly. (Working on that zone by zone atm, filling in missing info by catching the buggers :)) --Seedling 09:43, 4 October 2015 (CDT)

Hrmm. If we're missing fish being tied to fishing holes, I can dig them out of the dats and put them on a page for you to copy over/fill out properly, if you want :D Having the specific bait, size, prime locations, etc, isn't listed in the dats and would be more time consuming.. but just tying them to a hole is easy to rip out, if you want! Hezkezl (talk) 17:18, 4 October 2015 (CDT)

welcome back[edit]

we will need to reattribute your old edits back to your account. also do you use our discord? --Charitwo (talk) 18:48, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

  • Only installed discord recently, was quite usefull when my fc did Second coil turn 4 :D I'll see if I can join the gamerescape discord. --Seedling (talk) 22:06, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for adding those DoH / DoL actions![edit]
