Main Menu
Notes: {{{1}}}
The Main Menu in Final Fantasy XIV is located in a transparent slide-out on the right side of the screen. It is where most of the major interface windows for the game can be accessed. It is located below the Interactions menu when certain events cause it to appear.
Commands[edit]
These are listed in the order they appear on the menu.
Sections | Description |
---|---|
Attributes & Gear |
Attributes & Gear allows you to see your stats and change your equipment. When you select the equipment slot you want to change, an item selection screen will open. There are 22 equipment slots. |
Actions & Traits |
Perhaps the most crucial part of the Main Menu, the Actions & Traits allows a player to set the Battle Actions, Traits, and Synthesis Actions for their current Primary Skill and Secondary Skill. The action menu can only be modified in Passive Mode. |
Point Allotment |
Attribute Points (AP), gained at each level-up, can be used in this menu to increase a character's Attributes. As an attribute reaches higher increments, more AP becomes necessary to continue advancing it. |
Inventory |
View a list of the items you have in your possession and the details of each item. As of the April Alpha, items were broken up into three groups: items, crystals, and key items. |
Journal |
The Journal lists all of your active Levequests, both Regional and Local. It also shows your active Quests, currently only showing Class Quests. The Journal can show information about all your current quests, including the summary and current status. |
Search |
Search for players based on specific conditions. |
Party |
Selecting Party will bring up a window that lists the number of players currently logged on in the world, all nearby players, and all current party members. There are also three choices two of which are Party Details and Search. |
Social Lists |
View and edit your Friend List and your Blacklist. |
Linkshell |
Equip, view, talk with, and remove your linkshells here. |
Retainer List |
Retainers are NPCs for hire. In FFXIV, it will be possible to leave your items with a Retainer and have them stay in the Market Wards and sell your stuff for you, even after you have logged out. In the E3 2010 tests, the Retainer List displayed "No member." |
Map |
Opens up a full screen map of the area. Outside a town or city-state, it displays topography, sections, roads and their names, Aetheryte points, camps, and structures. Inside towns and city-states, it displays guild locations with icons and names, and shop names and locations |
NPC Linkpearls |
NPC Linkpearls are the primary source of communication with a quest giving NPC in the field. |
Teleport |
Teleports you and your party to any Aetheryte already visited. |
Return |
Returns you to the last Aetheryte visited. Unlike Teleport, it only transports one person. |
Support Desk |
Here you can access a FAQ about in-game mechanics, enter feedback, report bugs and bots/RMT's, report problems, and access technical and account support. |
Configuration |
Allows you to change your in-game settings. It will be similar to what is available for FFXI on the PS2. Chat filters, shadows, damage display, player perspective and more can be adjusted here. Macros are also accessed through this option. |
Log Out |
Quit and log out of the game. |
