Title: Archon Urianger

"The survivors gather, and ignite a fiery dawn to burn away the glowering shroud. Ah, but destiny, thou art beautiful..."

Urianger is an Archon of twenty-nine winters who presides over the Waking Sands. He has loved tomes since he was a child, and has always been particularly fascinated by prophecies. He sought such verses from all corners of the world, and read as many as he was able. His efforts left him with a poetic style of speech, ofttimes rendering the Elezen isolated from his fellow youths. With Moenbryda's aid, Urianger managed to enter the Studium, and later became a student of Louisoix Leveilleur—the leading Sharlayan authority on prophecy. Indeed, it is thought that Urianger elected to join the Circle of Knowing to learn the truuth of Mezaya Thousand Eyes's Divine Chronicles, a work that hinted at the coming of the Seventh Umbral Calamity.

Amber Carbuncle: By applying knowledge he had obtained at the Studium, Urianger alerted the geometry for creating Topaz Carbuncles, allowing instead for the use of amber in the summoning of an arcane familiar. So complex is the process of invocation, however, that only he has ever been capable of reproducing the spell.

Additional Dialogue
After The Black Wolf's Ultimatum
Souls from aether far, strangers from strange lands, Yester with thine eyes, morrow by thine hands. Thou and thy fellow Warriors of Light have led us from the darkness of the Seventh Umbral Era, as was writ in the Divine Chronicles. Yet peace is ever fleeting. When the darkness rises resurgent, I pray thou wilt bring thy light to bear once more.
Pre-Calamity Dialogue
GM Appearance
Hear my words if you are in search of truth. The disaster in Hydaelyn is imminent. The time of awakening has come for those who are preparing to tackle the chaos in motion. The future is not immutable. You can still change it. When the sixth sun will have set and the seventh moon shine in the sky, the ocean of clouds poured a rain of fiery flames and shadows fatal burst forth from the depths of the earth. The "Seventh Purification" predicted by Mezaya approaches. You who are in search of truth, wake up and put yourself against the imminent threat...
An augur is someone who attempts to foretell future events by reading signs such as celestial activity, animals, or omens. Urianger's first role was that of a prophet the foretelling the fall of the "moon," Dalamud, and the beginning of the Seventh Umbral Era.
Before Urianger appeared as a storyline NPC, a Game Master sporting his character model would sometimes appear randomly at aetherites in Thanalan, including Ul'dah. When he appeared, he would cast mysterious Area of Effect buffs on those near him and warn all who would listen that disaster would soon strike Eorzea, and only through the actions of willing adventurers could we hope to survive. This warning was dismissed by the NPC herald Alfgar, who, at that time, warned of false prophets who sought to undo the balance of Eorzea themselves. Based on the accuracy of Urianger's warnings and the later accuracy of Alfgar, though, it is assumed that Alfgar was, whether or not he was aware of it, paid with imperial coin to spread this message.
